Summary 
The Payroll Tax Administrator requires a great amount of confidentiality, attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy, technical competence, the ability to communicate verbally as well as written, and strong organizational skills. The Payroll Tax Administrator is responsible for day-to-day payroll tax operations and accurate and timely filing of tax reports to agencies. 
 

Duties

  • Properly handles confidential information.
  • Reconciles payroll tax reporting after each pay run to ensure accurate filings.
  • Manage filings of tax updates weekly.
  • Processes monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax reporting.
  • Reconciles payroll taxes to the general ledger and books journal entries.
  • Reconciles payroll reports to 941’s and W2’s.
  • Records changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions by updating master payroll record.
  • Records data concerning transfer of employees.
  • Prepares periodic tax reports.
  • Interfaces with other departments and employees to convey employee payroll information.
  • Solves problems concerning payroll, answers inquiries, and ensures compliance with payroll policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or needed.
 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, or finance plus 2-4 years payroll tax experience.
  • Strong accounting skills
  • Proficient in Excel
  • CMIC experience a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to create reconciliations that clearly communicate.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll tax reporting requirements.
  • Experience reconciling and preparing W-2 forms.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and in a constructive manner with management, peers, and coworkers.
  • Stresses compliance.
  • Is systematic, methodical, and thorough.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations: Communicates well with employees. Has a good working relationship with departments outside of Accounting.
  • Has a good understanding of Human Resource laws and policies as they apply to Payroll.
  • Establishes priorities and a course of action for handling multiple tasks.
  • Maintains the appropriate standards of ethics, conduct and organizational policies in job-related activities.
  • Experience in the construction industry preferred
