Primary Role: The Quality Manager oversees Quality Assurance (QA) performance to budget, staffing, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).  Works with peer Business Unit Quality Managers to drive continuous improvement within the inspection standards, instruction, methods, and tooling. Supports the Plant Manager in pursuit of the facilities quality objectives. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Produce and submit daily, weekly and/or monthly Quality reports to established guidelines. 
  2. Conduct a monthly Quality meeting with all shifts, championing corporate Quality initiatives and messaging. 
  3. Ensure daily audits and shift audits are conducted as prescribed. 
  4. Liaison with all departments relating to returns and customer complaints. 
  5. Work with all departments in the formulation of written procedures. 
  6. Continuously review the Quality Inspection process and submit suggestions for improvement to the VP of Quality/Quality Assurance management team for review and incorporation. 
  7. Ensure the following are conducted in an accurate and timely manner: 1) incoming audits/inspections, 2) RMAs processed in 24 hours or less, 3) defective material returns, 4) material evaluations (MERF) 
  8. Work in conjunction with the Plant Manager regarding Quality inspector manpower planning. 
  9. Identify problems, initiate corrective actions and follow up to completion. 
  10. Plan, control, supervise and ensure proper training and staffing of Quality Team on all shifts. 
  11. Maintain a good working knowledge of all departments and processes and be involved with the plant’s Continuous Improvement teams. 
  12. Observe all company safety rules and serve as a “Champion” of corporate safety initiatives and culture. 
  13. Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance and work as a team player. 
  14. Maintain excellent attendance and must be available to work split shifts on occasion. 
  15. Facilitate/support structured problem-solving activities, ensuring root-cause identification is databased and corrective actions are validated and controlled. 
  16. Engage with customers on quality issues and relationship management. 
  17. Escalate adverse quality trends to corporate leadership. 
  18. Facilitate/support the development of the annual BU defect reduction project roadmap and participate on project teams as appropriate. 
  19. Team with the Plant Manager & site engineering to ensure all site KPIs are managed and attained. 
  20. Lead the translation of design & process requirements through to process and quality controls/inspections.
  21. Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred or the equivalent working knowledge. 
  • 7 years of experience in Quality Management. 
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. 
  • Must know how to use various measuring instruments. 
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. 
  • Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel (including spreadsheets/databases). 
  • Up to 10% overnight travel can be expected.
