Primary Role: Provide test support to Value Engineering projects in fiberglass pool business. Performs hands on technical duties in laboratory, manufacturing, and installation environments, including setting up laboratory equipment, writing test plan, preparing test material, conducting lab-based experiments, recording and analyzing data, and writing test reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under supervising of lead engineers, conduct laboratory testing, production test, and installation test.
- Use laboratory equipment test material mechanical property, viscosity, curing time, UV protection, water permeability, material degradation ect.
- Setting up, and maintaining laboratory equipment such as UTM, Viscometer and gel timer, Impact tester, Turtle box, and other laboratory equipment in testing FRP materials
- Build laminate panels, fabricate test samples using laboratory equipment.
- Write test plan, conduct test, collect data, and write test report.
- Recording, analyzing, and writing technical reports and papers on experiments.
- Work with production personnel to conduct test at production setting.
- Obtain qualifications to operate production equipment
- Support manufacturing equipment upgrade and problem shooting associated with change of product material, design and manufacturing process
- Practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations
- Ability to work independently with strong time management skills
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate or higher education background in technical field
- At least one year of hands-on experience in laboratory
- A quick learner with strong mindset of “do what it takes” to complete the tasks timely
- Basic knowledge in chemistry, composite material, mechanical engineering
- Ability to operate basic tools and machinery
- Good communicator, able to write reports with attention to detail and good interpersonal skills
- Physical abilities – lifting, standing, bending, climbing, lift/push/pull 50lbs, stand for 4 hours
- Use of Microsoft Office
- Travel requirements (<10%)
- Overtime when needed
