At Latham, The Pool Company, we make backyard dreams a reality as the largest designer, manufacturer, and marketer of residential inground swimming pool with a coast-to-coast operations platform. 
This position will be based out of our Rockingham, NC facility and is an onsite position.

Primary Role:   The HR Generalist is responsible for all human resources functions at an assigned location. Working with the HR Manager, the HR Generalist assures all day-to-day HR tasks and processes are executed efficiently and effectively. They partner with plant management staff to assure a positive culture and help drive engagement. The HR Generalist also leads efforts related to employee relations, compensation and recruitment and retention initiatives in support of Latham’s core values and strategy. The role may also participate in HR projects and process improvement initiatives in a location or across the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Human Resources Functions:     
Maintains employee files in compliance with legal/regulatory requirements.  
  • Keeps employee records up to date by processing employee status changes in ADP and E-Time.  
  • Maintains I-9 files according to federal regulations and conducts regular I-9 audits.  
  • Leads recruiting for all positions at the location. This includes but it is not limited to internal job postings, external advertising, job fairs, open houses, screening, and tracking of applications, including:  
    • Recruiting and Hiring for all direct labor and overhead positions  
    • Reviewing pre-hire documentation to ensure compliance with company requirements  
    • Conducting New Hire Orientations  
    • Hiring Temporary employees  
  • Partners with Corporate Payroll & Benefits Manager to include:  
    • Informing employees on insurance enrollment deadlines   
    • Overseeing weekly payroll approvals   
    • Managing all payroll-related issues including pay shortages, overpayments, garnishments, support orders, requests for information, etc.  
    • Processing all pay increases 
  • Partner with Plant Manager to administer the wage matrix; assure cross-training             and appropriate matrix placement for individuals. 
  • Coordinate performance review process and assist managers with the process. 
  • Partner with Plant Management to issue and track attendance and discipline.
  • Conduct investigations including documenting appropriately and recommending course of action.  
  • Support and advise managers on all disciplinary issues, terminations, and layoffs.  
  • Complete unemployment documentation and attend hearings as needed.  
  • Help or organize company activities and employee engagement/culture functions.  
  • Review and ensure compliance with Federal and State Law, along with company policies and procedures.  
  • Coach and train supervisors and managers on policies and procedures along with federal and state laws.  
  • Administer and manage FMLA claims and other types of leaves (STD, LTD, administrative, personal, etc.)  
  • Update all legal postings along with any other plant postings and/or Latham Live communication.  
 
Office Administration Functions:  
Ensure the following tasks are completed:  
  • Order flowers and other appreciation items for employees as needed. 
  • Partner with plant management to roll out engagement plans or events.
 
Safety and Workers Comp Functions:  
  • Maintain and enforce safety rules and regulations.  
  • Conduct visual audits and recommend changes.  
  • Participate in the safety committee meetings.  
  • Manage and report all injuries.  
 
Other duties and special projects as assigned.  
 
 
Qualifications:
  
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field with a minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience; Combined, relevant experience and HR-related training and education may be substituted for degree requirement.  
  • HR Certification and Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus  
  • Public company experience a plus  
  • Previous manufacturing highly preferred  
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, regulations, and concepts  
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and confidential situations while maintaining high ethical standards.  
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment with diplomacy, accuracy, and a service-orientation. 
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach to work; able to demonstrate creative problem-solving skills and an inquisitive approach to solving complex or unfamiliar problems.  
  • Strong work ethic; Approachable and responsive – able to develop strong working relationships with employees and leaders. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required, including being able to hold meetings and perform training in small and large groups - excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; Survey Monkey, Zoom, Employee Survey software, Jobvite or similar applicant tracking system, HRIS and ADP Workforce Now  
  • Must be available to work 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday at the designated location, with flexibility for nights/weekends as required; at least 40 hours per week.  
  • Physical: Ability to (1) stay in a sitting position for most of the working day while looking at a computer monitor; (2) Walk through the plant at least once per day; (3) Open filing cabinets, bend or stand
