Mold Technician
Description
Primary Role: The Mold Technician is responsible for maintaining the molds in production ready status. They also will alter pools to fit production needs, by combining pools, changing depth and any alterations requested by our customers. This position has five (5) levels.
Duties and Responsibilities:
M-1 Apprentice:
- Understand and know how to use MSDS
- Learn small cosmetic repairs
- Learn large repairs with assistance from M-3 or above
- Learn to properly clean, grind, sand, and buff molds
- Learn to properly maintain and repair mold floor texture
- Follow safety procedures
- Keep a clean work area
- Other duties as assigned
M-2:
- Knows how to repair cracks in molds
- Knows how to do small and large repairs
- Can follow initiator catalyst chart for proper curing
- Knows how to maintain or repair mold floor texture
- Assisting with splicing together pools
- Assisting with the alteration of depth of a standard pool
M-3
- Able to teach others
- Can evaluate and rate mold condition and mark areas for repair
- Knows how to level out molds
- Knows how to splice together pools
- Can alter the depth of a standard pool
- Manages time on repairs to meet deadlines with supervisors
- Manages supervised employee time
- Assists M-4 with new molds and plugs
- Knows how to properly reorder material for use in the mold department
- Assigns work duties to other mold personnel
M-4:
- Keeps track of daily logs
- Can schedule work and meet deadlines
- Cand budget the S& E for Mold
- Can operate all equipment and teach others the proper use
- Knows how to prepare plug for mold to be manufactured
- Problem solving skills
- Able to track weekly goals and report to supervisor
- Can evaluate a difficult problem/situation and help
- Derive Solutions
M-5:
- Manufacture a mold
- Control weekly mold data entry
- Properly manage inventory levels for use in mold department
Qualifications/Skills:
· Two years of experience in the field of Composites Manufacturing or equivalent preferred
· Composite certificates or licenses preferred
· Experience working with power tools and pneumatic tools a plus
· Forklift experience preferred
· Auto body or drywall experience is helpful

· Lifting up to forty (40) pounds
· Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses with side shields, hearing
protection, hard hat, gloves, and/or protective outerwear and safety shoes are required
· Exposure to dust, odors/fumes, head or cold (dependent upon weather conditions) and noise
is typical.
