A little about the position:
Job Summary
As an Electrical Engineer – Product Design, you will support new and existing design efforts to improve the functionality, quality, and cost on our Latham Pool Products automatic pool covers.  Develop and manage overall controls strategy for the product line, communicate project updates and deliver executive summaries.  Assess the quality, agency requirements, electrical designs, firmware and software of products and generate the required product specifications. Investigate new and innovative solutions and alternative materials/components.  Deploy design for manufacturing, system installation, installation documentation, ease of maintenance concepts and product cost reduction ideas.  Interface with internal manufacturing, product management, quality control, external suppliers, and appropriate agencies to ensure flawless execution of designs.  Design and develop appropriate drawings and engineering standard work.
 
Some of What You Will Do:
  • Define, conduct testing and work with external labs on electrical product development and ensure the finished product meets design specification and quality standards.
  • Ensure product design and end use meets all agency requirements, such as UL, ASTM, NEC & CE.
  • Develop and evaluate new products through characterization, testing and analysis.
  • Develop clear scope of work and technical specification for control boards, components, programming (firmware/software), wiring and enclosures.
  • Execute product strategy by designing simple, effective and durable solutions and working with outside partners to achieve project scopes.
  • Manage project execution including schedule, cost, benefit delivery, and leadership updates.
  • Write clear specifications for manufacturing and supply base.
  • Assess product construction, look for opportunities for component replacement to improve product performance and reduce cost.
  • Analyze product issues and failures with root cause analysis and propose new solutions.
  • Advising management on suitability, feasibility, profitability, environmental impact of material; evaluate economic viability of materials for commercial production and select the best combination of components.
  • Product detailed technical reports and provide effective technical presentations.
  • Develop and communicate product bulletins as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Travel required at times 5-10%
 
What You Bring to the Table: (Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years’ experience working in Electrical Engineering and product design.
  • Experience working with consumer electronic interface product, PCB board layouts, component specs, firmware and software programming.
  • Experience in testing and assessing electrical based products, developing prototypes and troubleshooting.
  • Strong project management and executing skills and ability to lead and drive significant programs with large business impact.
  • Strong and effective communication stills to deliver detailed project update and executive summaries.
  • Ability to work with customers, suppliers, contractors and internal team members for solving manufacturing issues and the collaborative development of new products and processes.
  • Ability to interpret data and provide recommendations based on findings.
  • Self-starter, willing to accept initiative and able to work independently.
  • CAD experience with SolidWorks preferred but not required.

Salary Range: Insert Salary Range: $85,000-$125,000/year.
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across US geographic markets.  Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
