We are looking for a savvy and experienced Direct Marketing Modeling Manager to join our Analytics and Data Science Team. Lands’ End employs many kinds of direct marketing materials including a widely respected catalog practice. Accordingly, your team will have responsibility for guiding the targeting and investment of over a hundred million dollars in carefully crafted creative. Catalogs and other direct marketing materials need to go to the right person, at the right time and as part of an integrated, efficient and successful wholistic program of customer growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Guide many of the direct marketing and catalog efforts of Lands’ End through:
    • Best-in-class modeling
    • Effective team development and training
    • Programs of constant performance improvement through appropriate sequential experimental designs and holdouts
  • Manage the back-testing of new approaches to validate their efficacy where applicable
  • Carefully manage the risk of new developments – balancing important potential upside with risk of unexpected performance
  • Communicate and coordinate efforts with analytic partners including marketing and merchandising
  • Establishing requirements for data engineering to support direct marketing efforts
  • Guide and develop a team of skilled modelers to high levels of current industry knowledge and proficiency

Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in providing modeling support and model development to direct marketing efforts, preferably including direct mail and/or catalog and preferably in Retail and/or eCommerce
  • Strong analytics and development capabilities in R and/or Python with the ability to build solid models and perform complex analyses. Experience in other open source model development environments like Sagemaker, TensorFlow, KNIME, etc. preferable, along with AWS experience. Digital Analytics experience is desirable.
  • Ability to think critically and clearly, understand business contexts and needs, as well as deliver key insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
  • Understanding of key statistical principles behind modeling, testing and analysis, along with an understanding of the most common ML methods
  • An understanding of experimental methods including factorial and sequential approaches preferred
  • BS in quantitative discipline required, with MS preferred
  • SAS Certified or SAS experience preferred
