Crew Member
Description
Crew Members are involved in a wide range of tasks, including site preparation, material handling, assisting skilled tradespeople, and following safety protocols, all while working as part of a team to complete construction projects.
Site Preparation and Maintenance:
- Cleaning and clearing debris: Removing obstacles, hazards, and debris from the construction site.
- Site preparation: Preparing the area for construction by digging trenches, backfilling holes, and compacting earth.
- Traffic control: Regulating traffic and erecting traffic signs.
- Safety: Adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Material Handling and Logistics:
- Loading and unloading materials: Loading and unloading building materials, tools, and equipment.
- Transporting materials: Moving materials and equipment around the construction site.
- Assembling and dismantling: Building and taking down barricades, scaffolding, and temporary structures.
Assisting Skilled Tradespeople:
- Providing support: Assisting skilled tradespeople (e.g., electricians, plumbers, carpenters) with their duties.
- Following instructions: Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans.
- Operating tools and equipment: Operating hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery under guidance.
General Construction Tasks:
- Excavation and leveling: Digging holes, tunnels, and shafts, and leveling ground.
- Concrete work: Mixing, pouring, and leveling concrete.
- Maintaining tools and equipment: Ensuring tools and equipment are in good working order.
- Reading blueprints: Understanding and interpreting blueprints and diagrams.
