Who We’re Looking For:
As a key member of our R&D team, the R&D Technician will play a crucial role in providing PLM and R&D support to the existing products of our Interventional Urology Global Business Unit as well as performing engineering activities in support of new product development and product acquisitions at Laborie.  The primary focus of the position will be to support the R&D deliverables for Drug Coated Balloon (DCB) design and related process at our facility located in Plymouth, MN. 
 
 
About the Role:
  • Responsible for supporting R&D engineering in compliance with the company's quality system; drafting technical reports and lab notebook studies for R&D and cross-functional projects.
  • Product testing to support R&D projects and other cross-functional projects (manufacturing, quality, PLM).
  • Draft Engineering Request forms to perform R&D prototype and product builds to support verification, validation, and other device testing; responsible for supporting and performing process development on R&D manufacturing procedures.
  • Manufacturing lead/SME for site's R&D products including training production staff on new manufacturing procedures as appropriate in design transfer activities; SME on product testing to support R&D, manufacturing and quality including test method development.
  • Responsible for equipment implementation/maintenance, prototyping, product inspection, testing, document creation, operator training, and leading R&D product builds.
  • Creates, maintain and update component specifications/drawings, sub-assembly drawings and other design control documentation relevant to the site as defined by the quality system.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in related technical position and high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industry such as medical device or pharmaceutical.
  • Experience with statistics, design of experiments, process development concepts, product testing, and test method development.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience writing technical reports, lab notebook studies.
  • Technical aptitude, "hands-on" approach to engineering, with a good understanding of engineering concepts, design for manufacturing, and experience with statistics and design of experiments.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in engineering, engineering technician or closely related degree.
  • Experience with catheter manufacturing, including drug coated balloon catheters.
  • Test method validation experience. 
  • Self-starter, willing to learn and work in fast-paced environment. 
  • 3D CAD software skills (Solidworks)
