Who We’re Looking For:
As a key member of our R&D team, the R&D Engineer will support existing products in our portfolio as well as performing engineering activities in support of new product development and product acquisitions. This includes design changes, material changes, specification changes, packaging changes, etc. in support of revenue, quality, production, and cost reduction goals. 
 
About the Role:
  • Responsible for product engineering that is in compliance with the medical device control requirements globally and will be a resource assigned to product design projects.
  • Maintains and updates specifications, material selections, drawings and other documentation relevant to the product as defined by the quality system.
  • Responsible for variety of activities on new product development including design, prototyping, material selections, verification and validation, design for manufacture/manufacturing transfer.
  • Work on development of test setups and perform or subcontract testing of mechanical systems, assess changes in production and impact of the design of the product, and write protocols and reports for verification/validation of products through their lifecycle.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering or closely related engineering degree with minimum 2 years' experience in medical device or pharmaceutical industry with ISO 13485/ISO 9001 
  • Knowledge of applicable standards/regulations such as GMP, EU MDD/EU MDR, and ISO 13485 and understanding of test method verification, validation and analytical methods
  • Good understanding of engineering concepts including FEA, design for manufacturing and CTQ design and development, and the engineering change process
  • Strong ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and within tight deadlines and communicate and work with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication skills, including technical writing, comfortable presenting technical information
  • Technical aptitude, "hands-on" approach to engineering, with a good understanding of engineering concepts, design for manufacturing, and experience with statistics and design of experiments.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks
