Who We're Looking For: 
As a key member of the R&D team, the Portfolio Director will play a crucial role in shaping the direction of the Gastrointestinal and Diagnostic Urology division at Laborie. You will need to work primarily with sales and marketing to manage the entire lifecycle of current and future product offerings. The successful candidate with have concrete examples of decision making and alignment based on strategic portfolio management principles, including the management of Product Design Owners, project scope, control board meetings, project initiation/cancellation decisions, business development investments, sustaining engineering programs and overall strategy. The Portfolio Director will be responsible and accountable to work collaboratively with sales and marketing to define clear inputs from customers and define key requirements with the engineering and system and quality teams. As the leader of the team, the strategic direction and scope of the product and technology roadmap with active tactical management will be your primary deliverable.
 
About the Role: 
  • Work collaboratively to develop and refine requirements and collaborate to translate the requirements to efficient testing and design.
  • Provide strong leadership to the engineering and cross functional team fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Set clear goals and expectations and mentor internal and external team members to achieve their full potential.
  • Build and maintain a high-performance team by attracting, hiring and retaining top talent and encourage, instill, and facilitate prioritization of projects and initiatives within the team.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define and execute the portfolio strategy aligned with the company’s overall goals.
  • Drive the scope, development, and implementation of programs to enhance the development and release of products.
 
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Biomedical Engineering or related field with 5-10 years of proven experience in building and leading high-performance, cross-functional teams; medical software/product experience required.
  • Extensive background in medical device development, testing, requirements development and deployment.
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Ability to uncover and define user requirements and technical requirements; ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
