  • Assist in administration of the HRIS/benefit administration system to ensure it meets the needs of the Company in managing benefit plans and internal/external reporting requirements.
  • Work with insurance providers, third-party administrators, and other vendors to ensure proper administration and issue resolution.
  • Provide direction to team members and coordinate with insurance providers and third-party administrators in the daily administration of employee benefits including medical, prescription, dental, vision, life, disability and flex-spending accounts, COBRA, leave plans and retirement programs.
  • Assist HR community, employee, retiree and beneficiary populations and others (i.e. Finance, Legal, Vendors) with resolution of healthcare inquiries, issues, questions and concerns.
  • Assess and document internal processes and provide recommendations to improve, streamline and enhance accuracy through reengineering, establishing new methodologies goaled at continuous process improvement.
  • Coordinate outsourced administration of COBRA and ACA 1095 Reporting, including processing and maintaining enrollment records for active, COBRA and retiree populations
  • Facilitate retiree life insurance premium billing.
  • Administer death claim process for life insurance and 401(k)
  • Assists in developing, recommending, and implementing approved, new or modified plans.
  • Interpret, review, and update plan documentation, including SPD’s, policies and procedures to ensure standardization, legal compliance and that all documents are current and accurate.
  • Assist with the annual open enrollment process including preparing employee communication and enrollment materials, vendor coordination and eligibility updates.
  • Support the compilation of benefit information and reporting needed to administer the benefit plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. and Canadian legal requirements, including the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), ERISA, HIPAA, ARPA, COBRA and managing audits, both internal and external for Benefits Health and Welfare, Retirement, Wellbeing and Leave plans.
  • Completes special projects by collaborating with other areas of HR, to include Compensation, IT, Payroll.

SCOPE & IMPACT: 

This position has the ability to make independent decisions relative to certain daily operations affecting the La-Z-Boy North America Health & Welfare, Retirement, Wellbeing and Leave benefit plans.  The plans cover approximately 6,000 active employees and have an annual spend of $55 million for health and welfare and a retirement plan with more than $300 million in assets.  Decisions which have a broad impact on the organization require authorization by the manager of this position. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field with 2-4 years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
  • Must be familiar with laws and regulations governing employee benefits.
  • Strong communications skills, oral and written, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Strong analytic skills, with the ability to analyze, condense and report out data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with very strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and international regulations and legislation impacting benefit plans.
  • Travel Required: up to 5%

·Benefits Certification, such as CEBS

·Certified SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR
