Position Summary:
Katz, Sapper & Miller (KSM) has a Tax Director opportunity to join their growing Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) team. The TAS Tax Director will work with KSM’s tax practitioners that contain a deep wealth of knowledge as it relates to deal structuring and transaction deal points. The TAS Tax Director is a crucial team member that will ensure engagements are executed timely, guarantee client expectations are met (if not exceeded), and lead the overall delivery of the TAS team strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Operates as the leader of several client engagement teams, leads due diligence, and structures engagements related to transactions involving private equity and strategic corporate entities
- Consults with internal KSM technical experts on complex tax matters
- Recognizes and examines tax risks and opportunities while providing guidance to both strategic and private equity buyers and sellers on different tax strategies for acquisition, disposition, and restructuring of businesses
- Reviews acquisition and merger agreements
- Develops and manages client relationships
- Advises subordinates to encourage career satisfaction
- Manages risk and financial performance of engagements including budgeting, billing, and collection
- Collaborates with financial due diligence team to appropriately scope new engagements
- Reviews, appraises, and counsels clients on the tax computations in their financial models as well as assists clients in the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the tax data in their transaction’s financial projections
- Maintains a desire to build a team of professionals to support clients in the tax TAS space
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Taxation from an accredited college or university required
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- CPA, MST, JD, LLM a plus
- Experience managing multiple client service teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience and knowledge of US GAAP; tax controversy; US federal, international, and state income tax disciplines
- Extensive experience in tax advisory services, with a focus on transactions
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing teams
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to articulate complex information to clients when providing vital insights, analysis, etc.
- Essential working knowledge of non-income based federal, state, and foreign tax regimes; this includes but is not limited to indirect, payroll, property, and ad valorem taxes
