MISSION & VISION STATEMENT:
 
The Kewa Pueblo Health Corporation (KPHC) is established for the purposes of carrying out the vision and mission of the Santo Domingo Health Center (SDHC). POSITION PURPOSE:
 
As a Patient Registration representative, we are often the first point of contact for our patients and their families. Our professionalism, expertise and dedication help ensure that our patients receive the highest quality of care they need. We are diligent in obtaining complete and accurate insurance and demographic information in a timely manner, this enable us to provide high quality, compassionate health care service to all who need them, regardless of their ability to pay and respect for culture.
 
PERFOMANCE EXPECTATIONS: 
In performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees of the Kewa Pueblo Health Center are expected to conform to the following:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Patient Registration personnel greet and welcome patients, visitors, and families in a prompt and courteous manner while maintaining the highest standard of customer satisfaction.
  • Works directly with all clinical staff and are responsible for performing and coordinating administrative tasks including, but not limited to, answering phone calls, scheduling patient appointments, and calling patients to remind them of appointments.
  • Communicates directly with patients and/or families either in-person or on the phone to complete the registration process by collecting patient demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility/benefits while maintaining patient confidentialities.
  • Responds to patient and caregivers’ inquiries related to routine and sensitive topics always in a compassionate, respectful, and confidential manner.
  • Organizes and schedules patient services and appointments for initial visit or follow-ups.
  • Utilizes electronic health records (EHR) systems to enter, access, and/or verify patient data and insurance benefits in real-time ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Generates, reviews, and analyzes patient data reports and follows up on issues and reports any inconsistencies to supervisor, as necessary.
  • Will be required to navigate and walk throughout the facility by assisting with patient escorts in concierge type support, if needed.
  • When needed, will assist patients by providing wheelchair transport throughout the facility and coordinate interpreter services.
  • At all times, maintains strict patient confidentialities by adhering to all regulatory aspects of HIPAA, PHI, and ePHI requirements and in accordance with KPHC policies, procedures, and standards, including Patient Registration handbook.
  • Utilizes high standards of customer service while effectively communicating and interacting with patients, staff, and administration.
  • Performs all other duties, as assigned.
 
MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
 
Experience:
               
  • Customer Service experience or related work involving regular customer contact
  • Experience must include verbal and written communication skills; willingness to interact in a customer-focused and compassionate manner while ensuring patient’s needs are met
 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, clinical staff, and administration
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentialities at all times and adhere to any and all HIPAA, PHI, and ePHI requirements and regulations
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience performing customer service in a medical setting.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Bilingual skills in English and the Keres native language.
  • Prior experience working with Indian Health Services (IHS), a Tribe or Tribal Organization.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the primary functions of this job. Normal office conditions exist, and the noise level in the work environment can vary from low to moderate. This position may be exposed to certain health risks that are inherent when working within a health center facility.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk and hear. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, and reading. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with patients, vendors and staff.
 
MENTAL DEMANDS:
There are a number of deadlines associated with this position. The employee must also multi-task and interact with a wider variety of people on various and, at times, complicated issues.

All employees must uphold all principles of confidentiality and patient care to the fullest extent. This position has access to sensitive information and a breach of these principles will be grounds for immediate termination.

Salary Range: $16.28 - $24.42 per hour
