Position Overview:

KORE Power, Inc. is seeking a Director of EH&S that directs the environmental, industrial, health and safety regulation compliance for KORE facilities, specifically the gigawatt KOREPlex battery factory in Buckeye, AZ. This role will oversee the development, planning, and implementation of environmental, health and safety policies; develops policies and procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness, and injury prevention, and building safety) used throughout the company.  This role also ensures compliance with national, state, local, and international regulations for all KORE facilities worldwide pertaining to environmental safety.  The individual will also handle all contact with appropriate agencies, oversee licensed hazardous waste disposal and monitors waste handling, and develop and oversee company training programs for employees.  Areas of expertise will include compliance training, lab/plant inspection, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety, directs the actions of emergency personnel. This role also ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist and selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for global environmental and safety management systems to include ISO14001 ISO 18001 and any other applicable standards.
  • Design and deliver environmental compliance and awareness training and manage third party environmental management system auditing services.
  • Responsible for managing several simultaneous global projects and gaining team support to achieve defined targets.
  • Team with various global team members to implement, manage and administer global regulations and guidelines pertaining to climate change, air quality, waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency, sustainability, and green building.
  • Evaluates regional priorities and environmental challenges to ensure alignment. Manages, in collaboration with other senior level executives, organizational sustainability metrics, annual sustainability reporting, organizational environmental goal setting and monitoring impacts of projects.
  • Leads and mentors a worldwide team of professionals that oversee the development, planning, and implementation of HSE policies.

Requirements:

  • Education: Requires a degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or other related subjects
  • Required Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years relevant job experience in a global role supporting EH&S.

Additional Experience:

  • Experience in compliance integration in product design and manufacturing environments
  • Experience in the successful implementation and management of environmental management systems to the ISO14001, ISO 18001, and other applicable standards
  • Ability to design and deliver environmental compliance and awareness training and manage third party environmental management system auditing services.
  • Track record of being an enthusiastic and effective team player and manager of highly qualified professionals with experience of leading and influencing internal and external resources to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Substantial project management experience
  • Experience with leading and facilitating cross functional groups
  • Ability to work successfully with people of diverse functional and cultural backgrounds
  • Experience in corporate sustainability, corporate social responsibility, supply chain management, project management with a sustainability focus, and/or green building
  • Experience and/or certifications related to RoHS, LEED, DEQ, CSP, CIH, CSHM, and WEEE
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing operations, environmental health and safety, and environmental regulatory compliance
  • Familiarity with domestic and international regulations and guidelines pertaining to climate change, air quality, waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency and green building

 

Travel: 10 - 50%
