Job Description Summary


The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator will be responsible for supporting our Culture of Safety across KV’s footprint with a focus on training, health and safety program implementation, job risk assessments, audits, and operations support.  This position reports to the Director of Environmental Health and Safety.   


The duties and responsibilities of the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide support and coordination to the organization to support worker health, safety, security and OSHA’s health and safety programs, procedures, training, work practices, standard work and controls
  • Conduct or support employee training as required by local, state, and federal regulations as well as those required by KV policies or procedures
  • Support Operations, Human Resources, Engineering, Maintenance, Tooling, Logistics, Quality Control and administrative staff members to monitor compliance and conformance to Health and Safety policies and management system
  • Assist in the investigation and analysis of near misses, accidents, injuries, and incident trends
  • Support interactions with the Safety Committees / Safety Team and facilitate regular meetings or safety concerns
  • Participate in KV’s Environmental, Health & Safety (SQDC) audits, training matrix reviews, and Gemba walks as required
  • Ability to evaluate or train to the health and safety of standard work, work permits, confined space, fall protection, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, first aid/CPR, industrial hygiene and hazardous material/emergency responses
  • Assist employees with training materials and topics related to orientation and on-the-job training
  • Support key OSHA compliance programs including: LOTO, Hearing Conservation, Fall Prevention, Respiratory Protection, Lift Trucks, Hoist Operation
  • Conduct inspections of equipment for appropriate machine guarding, safe operation, and safe working processes
  • Able to demonstrate and train employees on ergonomic safety or support engineering teams to develop safe standard operating procedures
  • Provide coordination with and participate in our Safety Committee/Emergency Response Team and ensure employee training and preparedness activities are up to date
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of clear, concise, and organized materials for reporting, communications, and training

  • Work Experience: Minimum of one (1) years working with safety, occupational health, public health, industrial hygiene or another safety-related concentration.  At least two (2) years’ experience leading safety teams formally or informally; demonstrated experience in the application of Health & Safety management systems;
  • Education: High School diploma 
  • Computer Skills: Skilled in the use of computer software (Word, Excel, Power Point); previous experience with safety systems
  • Organization Skills: Analytical with strong troubleshooting skills; ability to efficiently work in a high paced environment
  • Cross-functional skills: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, including written, oral and presentation skills necessary to effectively convey information to and/or influence a wide range of audiences, including all levels within the company

Preferred Requirements:

  • Certification: Board of Certified Safety Professional certifications (CSP, ASP, etc.) preferred
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in disciplines of SH&E, Engineering, Natural Sciences or related field; skilled trades training or licensure
  • Certifications: MIOSHA Level I or Level II Certificate, Workers Compensation and other safety or environmental certifications
  • Work Experience: Operation or maintenance of roll forming, break press, and metal stamping equipment
