General Maintenance Technician - Full Time
Hiring Range: $22.67 - $27.78 per hour

The General Maintenance Technician maintains KMHS buildings, vehicles and equipment in good operating order to ensure that all grounds are kept presentable at all times.

 
Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Work independently and perform all tasks and repairs in an efficient and organized manner with minimum supervision, completing these assignments on time and within budget.
  • Perform facilities repairs, including painting, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, sheetrock, roofing, glazing, locks, landscaping, and minor electrical work as needed.
  • Perform equipment repairs. Troubleshoot and repair commercial and residential equipment and building systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including routine and scheduled service procedures on commercial and residential equipment and building systems.
  • Maintain facility logs and records to include; keeping fire logs and other important maintenance and repair paperwork updated and organized as required by the state, county, or local authorities.
  • Perform vehicle maintenance to include safety inspections, scheduling routine maintenance, and keeping vehicles clean and in good operating condition.
  • Identify, order and maintain supplies, replacement parts, and tools needed to repair or service all commercial and residential facilities, equipment and building systems.
  • Utilize proper personal protective equipment. Maintain all applicable Material Safety Data Sheets and follow all chemical or pesticide labeling, mixing, and use instructions and regulations.
  • Provide 24-hour on-call stand by services as scheduled.
  • Assist in performing custodial duties, when assigned, to include hard floor and carpet care.
  • Promptly report to the Facilities Supervisor any and all damage to agency facilities and/or equipment, suspicious activity, security risks, or safety hazards.
Minimum Qualifications: 
EXPERIENCE: (minimum of 2 years of job-related experience) 
Two years of commercial building maintenance experience 
This position requires driving in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and have reliable, insured transportation. 
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
EXPERIENCE: Intermediate (minimum of 3 years of job-related experience) 
Experience in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, carpentry. 
 
Mental/Physical Requirements:  
  • The ability to function indoors in an office environment and outdoors engaged in physically active work.
  • Ambulatory ability to move to different work locations and bend, stoop, climb, and perform inspections.
  • The ability to wear various protective equipment, work in areas with extreme temperature variation, and work in cramped or uneven spaces.
  • Visual acuity to observe work sites, read written materials, blueprints, plans, and schematics.
  • Auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone, including projecting voice in noisy work settings.
  • May require the ability to lift from the floor, waist, or overhead objects up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Proficient with electronic devices such as; handheld smart phones and computers
