30 Hours Per Week (Weekends + Coverage)
Hiring Range: $32.53 - $40.67

The Mental Health Professional provides inpatient therapeutic psychosocial care for voluntary and involuntary adults admitted to the Adult Inpatient Unit, Youth Inpatient Unit, and Residential Services.  Provide leadership in all aspects of the treatment process involving four fundamental responsibilities: psycho-therapeutics, representation of the unit in Kitsap County Superior Court and responsibility for an array of agency and unit-based work practices to ensure unit safety and effective practices.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop treatment plans for both voluntary and involuntary residents.  Include relevant data from the prescriber’s history and physical and the nursing care plan when developing the treatment plan.  Maintain individualized plans that reflect unmet acute needs the current hospitalization can effectively treat.
  • Provide short-term individual, group, and family therapy services to expedite discharge planning and decrease the need for readmission. 
  • Prepare documentation and testimony for Kitsap County Superior Court mental health hearings.  Identify and prepare relevant witnesses to appear as needed.
  • Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team to help develop and implement meaningful treatment plans for clients. Maintain individualized plans that reflect unmet acute needs the current hospitalization can effectively treat.
  • Participate in a collaborative leadership role with the multi-disciplinary Treatment Team.  Act as an advocate for the psychiatric and social needs of the client.  Consult with the physician/ARNP in developing treatment plans and court testimony.  Be available to AIU staff as a source for clinical practice and mental health resources.
  • Develop discharge plans for voluntary and involuntary residents, including arranging and documenting 7-day follow-up appointments. Arrange transfers to Western State Hospital for revoked patients as necessary.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Masters Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field or must meet waiver criteria of RCW 71.24.260.
EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum of 2 years of job-related experience)
Two years of postgraduate, documented, supervised clinical experience with the chronically mentally ill, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse, substance related disorders, and emotionally disturbed clients.
LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration (can be obtained after hire). Must meet and maintain the definition of a Mental Health Professional as defined in WAC 388-877-0500.
