Behavioral Health Counselor - Shield Program
This position follows a 92% compensation structure to align with the academic calendar year and scheduled working hours.
Hiring Range: 
Bachelor’s Level
Behavioral Health Counselor: $24.74 - $30.92 per hour
Master’s Level
School Based Therapist: $27.21 - $34.01 per hour & $3,000 sign-on bonus*

We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced School-Based Therapist to join our Shield Program at Bremerton High School. This role involves providing on-going behavioral and therapeutic support for children enrolled in the program, contributing to a positive and supportive school environment.

General Summary of Duties:  The Child and Family Counselor provides on-going behavioral and counseling support for children enrolled in School Programs or Outpatient Services.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
 
Major Responsibilities/Tasks:
  • Case management for enrolled youth and families.
  • Brief intervention and as needed crisis support.
  • Family, individual, and group counseling as indicated depending on needs of the youth. 
  • Treatment planning, risk assessment, and safety planning utilizing evidence based practices.
    • Develop intervention plans to support youth success in the school environment. 
    • Collaborate with community partners and interdisciplinary team members to meet the needs of enrolled youth and families.
    • As needed, organize and implement social skills groups with the students enrolled in the school program.
    • Potential for classroom milieu management with students with complex behavioral health needs.
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation according to established policies and procedures.
    • This role has the potential to be embedded within school based programming, on an outpatient team, or as part of a wraparound team.

Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field. 
EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 3 years of job-related experience).
 
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field. 
EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with children within the structure of an intensive, milieu based program. 
The capacity to work well with children and families.

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practices for youth and their caregivers.
SKILLS:
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.
  • Communication ‑ Communicates clearly and concisely.
  • Computer skills ‑ Ability to operate a personal computer, fax machine, printer, and copier proficiently.
 
ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed productivity standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team member.
  • Able to assist in building positive working relationships with staff of all agency departments.
 
Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
 
Work Environment: Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.
 
Mental/Physical Requirements:  While performing the job duties, the employee is required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk, or listen.  Peripheral vision is also required for this position.
