School Based Behavioral Health Counselor II or Therapist – Sequoia School Program
Behavioral Health Counselor II (BA-Level) Hiring Range: $26.89 - $33.61 Per Hour
Therapist (MA-Level) Hiring Range: $29.58 - $36.97 Per Hour
Therapist Candidates Are Eligible For A $3,000 sign-on bonus*
This position follows a 92% compensation structure to align with the academic calendar year and scheduled working hours

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring a School-Based Behavioral Health Counselor II or Therapist to provide behavioral and therapeutic support for children in our Sequoia Program. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with students, families, and school personnel to create a supportive environment that fosters emotional regulation, social skills, and academic success. Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide behavioral health counseling and case management for enrolled youth and families.
- Deliver individual, family, and group therapy, using trauma-informed and evidence-based practices.
- Offer brief interventions and crisis support as needed.
- Complete treatment planning, risk assessments, and safety planning to promote student well-being.
- Collaborate with educators, administrators, families, and other community partners.
- Support classroom milieu management and help students build positive social-emotional skills.
- Develop and implement intervention plans to support success in the school environment.
- Organize and facilitate social skills groups for students with behavioral health needs.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation per agency and regulatory standards.
Behavioral Health Counselor Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field.
EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 3 years of job-related experience)
This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must meet agency driving requirements, including meeting the minimum age requirement of 21 years old, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.
LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor (can be obtained after hire)
Per the RCW 28A.400.303, employees of contractors with school districts that “have regularly scheduled unsupervised access to children” are required to go through FBI fingerprinting.
Therapist Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Psychology, social services, or a mental health field.
EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
