Food Service Staff Member
Position Summary
We are looking for a teammate who loves working in a school environment and is looking to be part of a dynamic team! This role is responsible for ensuring our students have access to nutritional meals to support the development of healthy minds and bodies. The food server provider will support the food service program for KIPP Stockton Middle School. This is a part-time role reporting to the Director of School Operations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience:
● Experience working in a school, preferred
Education/Certification:
● High school diploma or equivalent
● Food Handler certification or ability to obtain certification
Knowledge/skills required:
● Ability to learn, comprehend, and implement health and safety guidelines around food handling and distribution
● Ability to multitask and prioritize competing responsibilities as well as respond to emergencies with a calm and efficient manner
● Successful experience working as an effective member of a team
● Respect for children and adults from various cultures and backgrounds, flexibility, patience
● Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that is subject to interruptions
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
● Prepares food for distribution: breakfast, lunch, and snack
● Coordinate, track and provide feedback with the food vendor on number of meals served and required
● Maintains records/documents for health inspection
● Supports in the set-up and clean-up of all materials and areas impacted by breakfast and lunch
● Supports in cleaning the lunch space and kitchen throughout lunch and after lunch.
● Ensures serving trays and any other equipment are properly sanitized and stored
● Serves students breakfast and lunch
● Prepares snack for after school program
● Adherence to KIPP and local public health and safety standards
● Other duties as assigned
Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands
Physical:
Ability to cart food from one location to another. Ability to access and utilize technology. Occasional lifting/carrying of equipment up to 40 lbs.
Mental:
Stress of deadlines and normal work standards, ability to analyze problems and generate alternatives, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods of time, read, calculate, perform routine math problems, memorize and recall objects and people.
Classification
Part-time, non-exempt position based on the school calendar. This teammate will work 30 hours/week serving breakfast and lunch.
