About KIPP NorCal

We are a thriving nonprofit network of 23 free, public charter schools open to all students. At KIPP, we believe all children should grow up free to create the future they want for themselves and that schools can and should be a critical factor in making that vision a reality. Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose—college, career, and beyond—so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.
Our student community consists of nearly 7,000 elementary, middle, and high school students in East Palo Alto, Oakland, San Francisco, San Lorenzo, San José, Redwood City, and Stockton. 81% qualify for free or reduced price lunch, 34% are multilingual learners, and 12% have special needs. We strive to cultivate a representative team of teachers and leaders that reflect our students’ diversity.

Role Overview

The Family Ambassador Lead serves as a primary community-facing representative for KIPP schools in San Francisco and Oakland, supporting the execution of regional student recruitment efforts through field outreach, family engagement, and enrollment support. Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Recruitment and Enrollment, this individual contributor role executes community-based recruitment activities, maintains prospective family engagement, and supports enrollment processes with quality, timeliness, and strong customer service.
In this role, you execute assigned tasks with quality and timeliness while independently managing day-to-day outreach logistics and escalating non-routine concerns or barriers that require additional support or decision-making.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Recruitment Execution
  • Execute field-based outreach plans, including canvassing, tabling, and phone banking to ensure high visibility and a consistent pipeline of prospective families in San Francisco and Oakland.
  • Identify and secure high-traffic community locations and large-scale events for recruitment activities so that KIPP maintains a constant and welcoming presence where families live and work.
  • Manage and track prospective student leads in HubSpot to ensure all recruitment inputs are documented, and follow-up communication is executed with quality and timeliness.
Family Relationship Management & Enrollment Support
  • Persuade and inspire prospective families by effectively communicating KIPP’s mission and value proposition to ensure they choose to apply and remain engaged through the registration and enrollment process.
  • Deliver exceptional, high-touch customer service and bilingual communication to prospective families to ensure they feel supported and valued, resulting in high conversion rates from lead to enrolled student.
  • Guide families through the multi-step application and registration process in SchoolMint, providing the necessary technical support and persistent follow-up to ensure all requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Identify and escalate non-routine family concerns or enrollment barriers to team leadership to ensure timely resolution and a seamless onboarding experience for new students.
Community Partnership & Network Advocacy
  • Partner with school-based operations teams to lead school tours and support campus events, ensuring a welcoming and persuasive experience for families that aligns with individual school needs and regional recruitment goals.
  • Partner with the Student Recruitment and Enrollment team and other RSO departments to ensure all field activities remain aligned with regional growth goals and organizational strategy.
  • Identify and maintain functional relationships with community-based organizations to amplify KIPP’s mission through their local networks and communication channels.
  • Deliver compelling presentations and information sessions to CBO partners and groups of prospective families to clearly articulate KIPP's mission and educational model, resulting in increased brand awareness and application intent.
Outreach Coordination & Quality Control
  • Plan and organize the weekly logistics for field-based activities using Asana to ensure all tasks, materials, and deadlines are met for successful community engagement.
  • Execute marketing and flyering campaigns across target neighborhoods to raise brand awareness and ensure all potential families are aware of enrollment deadlines.
