The Demand Planning Analyst is responsible for the creation of pre-season and in-season data-driven demand plans across their assigned categories using historical data, statistical projections, bookings and sales team inputs. He/she will perform inventory modelling and analysis in support of corporate business planning. The Demand Planning Analyst will also serve as the central point of contact for Supply Chain analytics and will support the operations team with ad hoq reporting.


Demand Planning:

  • Create time-phased style-color demand plans using statistical modelling, trend analysis and leading indicators.  Collaborate with Sales Management and Product Line Managers to build long and short-range demand forecasts to drive the finished goods supply plan.
  • Aligns style-color demand plans with tops down S&OP forecasts including key account forecasts within each category.
  • Determine and communicate forecast confidence, including risks and opportunities.
  • Create, maintain and analyze demand pattern history including key account profiles and reorder and cancel patterns.
  • Understand, explain and track anomalies that affect order patterns and related impact on demand.
  • Provide in-depth analysis and reporting of the demand plan, forecast accuracy, trends and gaps.
  • Support sku-level demand planning through analysis of size curves.
  • Drive efforts to improve forecast accuracy. 
Sales and Operations Planning:
  • Model inventory flow to ensure established on-hand and ATS levels, turns and service goals are met. Report problem areas and recommend actions based on corporate goals.
  • Develop long range monthly inventory targets and track against actuals. Analyze and track the assumptions versus actuals.
  • Participate in and support corporate inventory reviews, including identification, tracking and support for disposition of obsolete and/or slow moving inventory.
  • Build and analyze category tops down forecasts to be reviewed in the forecast alignment meeting.
  • Support and participate in corporate Sales and Operations Planning meetings. 
  • Serve as the central point of contact for Supply Chain reporting.
  • Develop and maintain ad-hoc and recurring reports (Key Performance Indicators) for Operations decision support.
  • Perform financial and/or process analysis of designated supply chain functions. Develop solutions and lead initial implementation of projects as directed.
  • Partner with IT on reporting requirements and testing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, operations management, or equivalent. Coursework in finance and statistics required.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in demand planning, financial or supply chain analysis required.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations and processes.
  • Demonstrated skill in presenting ad hoc business analysis and recommendations to senior management.
  • Excellent computer skills, including advanced Excel (pivot tables, power pivot, charts, logical functions (sumif, vlookup, etc.), intermediate Access and strong report writing capabilities.
  • Familiar with common statistical forecast methods.
  • Strong critical thinking, data mining and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of demand planning and forecasting best practices.
  • Footwear industry knowledge desirable, but not required.
  • Experience with ERP and Business Intelligence systems.
  • The ability to collaborate and influence others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise business communication.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees, including executive staff.
  • The ability to speak in front of groups of varying sizes and levels.

  • Ability to travel worldwide on commercial transportation up to 5%.
