KCRW is Los Angeles’ iconic public radio station, known around the world for our original news, culture and music programs. Filled with curious and creative people building community on the air, online and in person, KCRW is a unique and collaborative workplace.

KCRW is seeking a Marketing Operations Manager who will be responsible for managing campaigns, assets, and promotional activities of KCRW as we evolve from a beloved public radio station to a multi-platform media and culture club.  The Marketing Operations Manager will work across the Communications and Digital departments, directing the development of creative assets, liaising with third-party content platforms, editing and writing promotional copy and newsletter copy as needed, and facilitating cross-departmental coordination around new launches.  

The Marketing Operations Manager will have split reporting to both the Communications Director and Director of Digital Product Management, and will work with content producers, graphic designers, and key stakeholders across the organization.  This role combines a love of KCRW content with a passion for getting it to the right people in creative ways and being able to track the results and iterate for the future. 

Marketing Operations Manager should have a minimum of 3 years in a marketing/advertising/promotional role that includes writing/editing, campaign coordination and an understanding of basic analytics across digital channels.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Communications Director and Director of Digital Product Management.  This position is in the SAG-AFTRA Bargaining Unit.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ongoing collaboration between Communications and Digital departments on a variety of projects
  • Responsible for digital marketing activities, including website and app promotion, streaming services, coordination with other channel marketing leads (social, events, etc.)
  • Create marketing acquisition plans across digital, email, SEO, social, paid, PR, and direct, taking into consideration the audience’s path to membership
  • Development of creative assets and messaging
  • Edit and write promotional copy
  • Assistance editing/proofing suite of newsletters; cross-train in newsletter platform and provide tech assistance to newsletter editors 
  • Newsletter analytics -  segmentation, conversion, demographic research, growth strategy from newsletter subscriber to supporting member
  • Regular analysis and reporting on launch metrics and ongoing campaign performance to identify opportunities for optimization
  • Track audience engagement and manage growth on third-party content platforms
  • Work collaboratively to identify growth potential of targeted market areas (researching competitors, demographics, listenership, etc.)

Required Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Love of copywriting, grammar (+ some humor and irreverence), tone and the ability of words to create an emotional connection
  • Well-organized and timely project manager who can keep the trains running on time with diplomacy
  • Mature communicator who can represent the organization in external communications with content and distribution partners
  • Strategic thinker who can focus our promotional activities to grow Membership, our ultimate metric of success
  • A good eye with digital and print ad design, such as e-newsletter, banner, social
  • Familiarity with the audio and podcast landscape and third-party platforms a plus (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pandora, smart speakers)
  • Familiarity and experience with SEO, paid media, audience conversion metrics, and A/B testing, a plus
  • Must be a great collaborator (very comfortable sharing work and knowledge), communicator and listener

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree with related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing role for design-forward org or agency
