About the Role

Kantata is building an intelligent, connected customer journey spanning implementation, adoption, optimization, renewal, and expansion. We are seeking a Staff Engineer, AI Transformation who bridges software engineering, agentic architecture, and post-sales business operations.

In this role, you will not just strategize or manage roadmaps—you will directly design, build, deploy, and maintain custom web applications, AI agents, custom skills, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations across our post-sales ecosystem (Customer Success, CX Operations, Professional Services, and Renewals). You will own the full technical lifecycle from initial architecture to production-grade deployment, ensuring our team scales capacity without linear headcount growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect & Build Production AI Solutions: Design, code, and deploy custom internal web apps, microservices, and agentic workflows that securely connect internal systems via MCP and APIs.

  • Develop Custom Agents & Tooling: Build robust AI agents, specialized skills, and context-aware tools using modern frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, or native LLM client implementations) to automate complex, multi-step customer operations.

  • Integrate Enterprise Systems: Construct secure data pipelines and integrations connecting core enterprise platforms (Salesforce, Kantata PSA, data warehouses) with AI runtime environments.

  • Workflow Redesign & Optimization: Map existing manual workflows across Customer Success and CX Ops, identifying high-friction bottlenecks and translating business needs into high-impact software solutions.

  • Establish Governance & Human-in-the-Loop: Implement technical guardrails, data privacy protocols, rate-limiting, and human oversight mechanisms for high-stakes AI outputs.

  • Measure Business Impact: Track adoption, capacity released, cycle-time improvements, and cost-to-serve metrics to demonstrate clear return on investment to executive leadership.

Initial technical initiatives may include implementation automation pipelines, next-best-action agentic recommendations, AI-generated customer review preparation, renewal-risk detection systems, and role-based operational copilots.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of full-stack or backend software engineering experience (Python, TypeScript/Node.js) with a proven track record of shipping production code.

  • Hands-on experience building generative AI applications; connecting systems and providing intelligence or automation of specific tasks and goals through agents

  • Direct familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or building custom API integrations/connectors between LLMs and enterprise tools (REST APIs, GraphQL, Webhooks).

  • Proficiency in modern web development frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js) for building clean internal apps and agent dashboards.

  • Familiarity with enterprise SaaS business architectures, systems and processes associated with go-to-market: Sales, Customer Success, Retention (Salesforce, Gainsight, PSA).

  • Strong product sense: Ability to evaluate business workflows, quantify released capacity, and translate frontline needs into clean software specs.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, Pgvector) and LLM observability tools (LangSmith, Phoenix).

  • Experience with serverless and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Vercel, Modal) for deploying lightweight microservices and AI endpoints.

  • Background working directly with or within Customer Success, Professional Services, or CX Operations teams in B2B SaaS.

  • Understanding of Professional Services metrics (utilization, billable vs. non-billable hours, margin optimization).

Why This Role Matters

AI is central to Kantata’s vision for delivering exceptional customer outcomes without linear headcount growth. This role offers the opportunity to shape how AI transforms post-sales operations, with executive sponsorship and broad cross-functional partnership.

Kantata offers competitive compensation and benefits, flexible time off, a remote-first environment, and professional-development support. Benefits are based on location and applicable local programs.
