Job Summary 

 Leads the product life cycle for one or multiple product lines. From inception until product release, ensures the associated product line features complement corporate strategy, product strategy, and lead to customer happiness, while considering the unique ways customers can operate in the airline industry. Delivers continuous improvements by identifying opportunities and producing high-quality feature definitions. Operates with cross-functional teams in support of the software development life cycle for result-oriented outcomes. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

For the assigned product line(s): 

  • Engage with customers and engineering teams to conduct functional research in the discovery phase of defining epics and features to validate feasibility, impact, and value gains.  
  • Scope and document an epic overview, clearly articulating the business objectives incorporating analysis such as: product/market fit, user needs and required features. 
  • Document feature specifications and the desired user experience, ensuring alignment to product strategy. 
  • Identify and suggest product line improvements/opportunities guided by data-driven assessments.  
  • Define and execute sprint plans while balancing larger, strategic objectives based on value/effort.  
  • Engage with the product team during product planning and prioritization activities delivering feedback and input, while advocating for the need to accomplish the product line goals.  
  • Effectively communicate product goals, requirements, and user needs to audiences with varying levels of domain expertise.  
  • Advocate on behalf of the end-user inside the organization, explaining user challenges and motivations. 
  • Prioritize short-term product line development tasks based on business and customer impact and value.  
  • Engage with Engineering to direct and remove obstacles in the software development life cycle.  
  • Monitor development progress and quality to ensure achievement of outlined business objectives.  
  • Validate development of new and enhanced features vs. original product requirements. 
  • Regularly inform impacted stakeholders on status and progress of accountable product lines. 
  • Demo new and enhanced functionality to stakeholders, communicating key features and value-add capabilities to build product awareness and understanding.  
  • Collect feedback and requests from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration into the product planning and development process. 
  • Regularly groom and organize the ideas (product) backlog for product line(s). 
  • Support and participate in the communication of relevant product updates to customers, working to create buy-in on the epic/feature proposal and accompanying capabilities.  
  • Empower Professional Services members as it relates to addressing product questions and feedback. 
  • Assist and direct Product Education as it relates to all accompanying product documentation and education content. 

Key Accountabilities 

For the assigned product line(s): 

  • Complete product discovery and definition for new features and enhancements 
  • Deliver features in line with outlined product requirements and with minimal defects 
  • Review and secure approval of enhancements and new feature requests from internal and external stakeholders 
  • Ensure alignment to strategic product goals and initiatives through short-term sprint planning and prioritization of product items 
  • Provide release approval to deploy new and enhanced features and measure their impact 

Education and Experience 

  • Has 2-3 years software product management experience (bonus if in the airline industry) 
  • Possess a blend of business and technical savvy, a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality 
  • Ability to prioritize ruthlessly and objectively, having rock-solid decision-making capabilities, articulating the cost/benefit of each decision made 
  • Build credibility to earn the respect and confidence of stakeholders 
  • Skilled negotiator and influencer, able to communicate user needs and product requirements into a compelling argument to help rally stakeholders 
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams 
  • Superb written communication and presentation skills 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to roll up one’s sleeves  
  • Proficiency in research and analysis 
  • Proficiency in understanding the agile framework through various methods like Scrum, Kanban, etc. 
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product through its lifecycle

  • Ability to travel unassisted up to 20% of time1 to meet requirements of the role
