Procurement Analyst

Warehouse/Distribution Vernon, BC


The Procurement Analyst supports the build-out and evolution of the Supply Chain Reporting and Analytics solution(s) for use by the Supply Chain team.  The Procurement Analyst will work closely with the Replenishment Team, Product Management and the Warehousing and Transportation group to model, visualize and present core business metrics which increase the operational efficiency and profitability. In addition, the Procurement Analyst will support the replenishment buying team for creating, submitting and managing purchase orders for products from our suppliers. They will build positive relationships with suppliers in the best interests of the company and will positively contribute and help manage category sales and profitability.

Supply Chain Analytics

  • Gather, document and validate business requirements from internal stakeholders
  • Develop and support key metrics and KPIs for tracking the performance of the Supply Chain group
  • Coordinate and participate in implementation of changes, enhancements and upgrades
  • Coordinate and participate in testing and quality assurance activities
  • Capture and publish meta data in support of self-service data discovery and analysis
  • Build prototype data models, metrics and visualizations
  • Coordinating external project delivery with internal project dependencies and timelines
  • Provide technical support including incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and resolution for the Supply Chain group
  • Augmentation and evolution of existing metrics, models and visualizations
  • Understand, monitor and escalate data quality issues

Inventory Management, Replenishment and Procurement of Product

  • Work with Stores and Inventory Management team to determine product needs and timeline requirements
  • Review catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals and the internet, and consult with team members to locate necessary products
  • Prepare and administer purchase orders and review requisitions for products 

Issue Resolution

  • Confer with the VOC, internal clients, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action
  • Identify, research, and resolve problems relating to purchasing issues

Purchasing Administration

  • Maintain created Purchase Orders by completing, modifying or cancelling when applicable
  • Review purchase order ETA’s and follow up with suppliers when shipments are delayed or information is inaccurate 

Store Sales Support

  • Develop and share product knowledge with internal customers and stakeholders
  • Review backorders regularly and create action plans to fulfill demand and provide accurate ETA’s


  • Develop and maintain collaborative work relationships with purchasing team members and other internal stakeholders

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Procurement Analyst supporting advance reporting and analytics solutions or similar in a medium to large organization
  • Database administration exposure or participation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Command of the English language, both oral and written
  • Experience with Azure Data Platform including Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Analysis Services and PowerBI
  • Practical knowledge of SQL and DAX languages
  • Advanced level knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server and Oracle in an enterprise environment
  • Experience building interactive visualizations, dashboards and interactive reports
  • Awareness of dimensional data modeling concepts and techniques
  • Ability to clearly tell a story with modern BI tools
  • Able to manage time effectively and with minimal general direction of the Manager, Replenishment
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously and have strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build productive, sustainable, and collaborative working relationships with clients, management and peers
  • Able to work effectively with small to mid-sized vendors


  • Degree in Computer Science or relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Special Requirements

  • Occasional evening and weekend work required

Negotiable Requirements

  • Exposure to the tire industry or a similar highly customer-service driven environment
  • R and/or Python and SQL skills preferable
  • Knowledge of Kal Tire’s KINS material management system
