Learning Experience Designer   
   
The Learning Experience Designer is a creative and innovative role, blending best practices in adult learning principles, content design and development, with multi-media authoring tools and learning technologies. This role designs and develops learning content and deliverables for multiple delivery methods and blended instruction to support the learning experience focusing on knowledge and skills acquisition. The Learning Experience Designer consults with Subject Matter Experts and collaborates within the Learning & Organizational Development (L&OD) Team to ensure content design and development deliverables effectively address business and performance requirements.   
   
The position is based in Vernon BC. We are also open to applicants who are remote within Canada.   
   
Responsibilities   
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Learning, the Learning Experience Designer:   
  • Designs/Develops/Curates learning content and materials including blueprints/storyboards, reference materials, assessment tools, experiential learning activities, and trainer/facilitation guides and materials, ensuring the learning experience aligns with business/performance requirements and L&OD Team content/knowledge management and sustainment practices
  • Collaborates with L&OD team project leads by supporting consultation work with Subject Matter Experts/Content Providers to define content specific requirements; Maintains open communication with project leads on status of work, following L&OD project processes
  • Organizes learning content on various platforms, making sure it is relevant and easy for users to access. Works with other content providers to ensure their content is up to date
  • Participates in research, brainstorming, and collaborative activities to ensure best practices are practically applied in alignment with learning objectives and business requirements
  • Leads continuous improvement activities by sharing expertise in learning/content management technology (e.g. LMS, SharePoint platform, etc.), rapid authoring tools and other technology platforms to support user learning experience and learning/performance outcomes
  • Takes personal ownership of engagement and performance development
  • Actively supports and participates in a culture of development and accountability for all team members that aligns with and supports the Kal Tire AIMS
Work Experience   
  • 5- 8 years’ of professional experience in a collaborative team environment within a Learning and/or Human Resources function
  • Experience delivering e-learning content leveraging LMS technology and/or other platforms (e.g. SharePoint).
  • Familiar with visual & graphic design, multimedia, and/or digital editing (video, photo, audio)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities   
  • Strong experience in instructional design and development of blended learning solutions for both in-person and digital platforms/educational technology, with solid skills in design thinking, user experience, and adult learning theory
  • Proven ability to take concepts from idea-to-execution through collaboration, communication of ideas, support buy-in, execution, and achievement of results
  • Strong communication skills (written, listening, verbal) demonstrating understanding of diversity of learner needs to ensure optimal user experience
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and to manage deliverables, simultaneously using sound judgment, critical thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Team player, willing to productively contribute to all activities and events related to the success of learning initiatives, with the intent of building and sustaining relationships for themselves and on behalf of the OneHR Team
  • Technology savvy and a passion for continuous learning, with the ability to quickly learn and teach others about new methods, tools and technology that will contribute to organizational learning and performance outcomes
  • Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality; uses diplomacy, discretion, and judgment in giving out information. Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.
Education   
  • Degree or Diploma in Adult Learning, CPTD/CTDP, or equivalent designation, with demonstrated expertise in any of the following: instructional design, adult learning, learning technology
Special Requirements   
  • Travel up to 10% of time.
