WCB Claims Assistant

Role Description

Under the supervision of the WCB Claims & Disability Management Coordinator, the WCB Claims Assistant provides administrative support and assistance with processing, monitoring tracking and work-related disability claims. The WCB Claims Assistant also provides support and general guidance and information on claims related matters, escalating issues or barriers as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Claims Processing

  • Monitors the Velocity incident reporting system to identify reportable injuries
  • Gathers all necessary documents and information for processing claims
  • Completes and submits WCB employer reports
  • Records claims into the claims management system
  • Submits earnings and other employment information to WCB as required.
Monitoring & Support
  • Responds to claims and return to work (RTW) enquiries
  • Provides general guidance and support on the company’s injury management program and processes
  • Assists in the resolution of claims/RTW issues
  • Assists in RTW planning, including the coordination of RTW plans
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of all claim’s communications
  • Monitors and inputs claim updates and work status into the various recording and tracking systems.
Administrative Duties
  • Maintains claim files
  • Processes incoming claims correspondence and invoices
  • Tracks WCB insurance premiums and rates
  • Compiles claims statistics and prepares reports as directed
Key Performance Indicators
  • Claims processed accurately and within required timeframes
  • Claims documentation and records accurate and properly maintained
  • Timely and accurate response to information requests
  • Positive feedback from key internal stakeholders (managers, injured team members).
Work Experience
  • 2 years’ administration experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of the workers’ compensation systems and policies
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Education and Certification
  • Grade 12 or GED.
Negotiable Requirements

WCB claims administration and return to work planning experience.
