 Role Description

The Site Manager, for Blackwater Gold, Mine Site 339, (with a pick up point of Prince George, BC) is responsible for the overall management of the Mining Tire Group site, ensuring that all safety standards are met, team members are well trained and supervised and that all service and product standards are met. This will be a 14 on x 14 off rotation.  

Core Responsibilities

  Team Leadership

  • Supervise the recruitment of site service personnel (in conjunction with the HR Manager).
  • Ensure safe work performance of the tire service team.
  • Ensure the effective performance and development of the team by setting clear role objectives and service standards, providing information, tools and processes to get the job done.  
  • Oversee delivery of improvement plans and projects for the team. 
  • Manage the service activities within agreed budgets. 

 Health & Safety

  • Ensure all aspects of Kal Tire’s Health & Safety Program are communicated and implemented in a consistent manner with Team Members, including; D&A Program, FLRA, Hazard Analysis, SWP’s, Accident/Incident Investigation & Reporting, Monthly Safety Meetings & Inspections, Due Diligence, etc.
  • Support and participate in the health and safety committee where ever possible.
  • Hold and document regular safety and tool box talks with team members.
  • Ensure all safety and CSR activities comply with our policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership regarding our safety and CSR practices.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental goals and objectives. 

Training & Development

  • Ensure the Career Track Training of all team members is documented, organized, readily available and up to date as per the applicable progression timelines.
  • Ensure all site specific and specialized training such as Forklift, Manipulator and Hiab is documented and up to date.
  • Assess / identify additional training requirements to help improve our effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Interact with Team Members on the shop floor on a regular basis and provide coaching and mentoring.
  • Conduct and document bi-annual team member Performance Reviews in a consistent manner. 

Communication

  • Provide a monthly report on area activities – using defined KPI’s to benchmark performance.
  • Provide daily, weekly, monthly reporting to the customer as required. 
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled customer meetings. 
  • Provide continuous feedback with team members in regards to customer activities, changes in policies or procedures, company updates / changes, team member performance, etc.
  • Improve our team member relations through the proper and consistent application of the Collective Agreement where applicable. 

Standard of Service

  • Ensure site inspections, tire and wheel inspections, air pressure monitoring, scheduled rotations and change outs, proper documentation, etc are carried out to provide best value and tire performance for the customer.
  • Participate in Scrap tire inspections and analysis along with repair decisions with the manufacturer to ensure a cost effective program is maintained.
  • Provide Tire Tracking data, analysis and information based on accurate documentation, data entry and reports.
  • Ensure all team members receive quality training, and understand the importance of quality service.
  • Ensure appropriate equipment and tooling is provided and is cared for, maintained and in good working order. 

Policies & Procedures

  • Take all reasonable measures to ensure compliance with relevant Company, Customer or Governmental policies & procedures. 
  • Ensure Kal Tire S.W.P’s are up to date, reviewed, readily available, followed and enforced.
  • Ensure all customer specific orientations and S.W.P’s and policies are understood and followed.
  • Ensure that F.L.R.A ‘s are conducted and completed as required. 

Technology 

  • Understand, provide and maintain the “Tire Track” system along with relevant reports and analysis.
  • Encourage and provide assistance where possible in conducting weight studies.
  • Be proactive in understanding new technology in the market place that could aid in the tire maintenance process and provide added value to our customer. 

Purchasing & Distribution

  • Ensure adequate inventory is on hand or readily available to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Ensure inventory is managed with regards to shipping, receiving, invoicing, POS etc, so as to protect the assets of both Kal Tire and the customer.
  • Ensure Tire Track is maintained with regards to tires by location to identify stock, spare, out for repair etc. 

Customer & Industry Knowledge

  • Develop and maintain a knowledge and documentation of the customer business with regards to fleet size, forecasting, operating hours, utilization, scrap average, mine plan, haul profile, future growth or reduction, etc.
  • Analyze and provide the proper tires and product selection for applications to ensure best value.
  • Measure and understand the customer’s annual tire needs and related costs.
  • Educate the customer and his operations as to areas of improvement through Tire Awareness presentations. 

Retread & Repairing

  • Maintain and document a solid tire repair program through inspections, assessments, proactive repairs and Tire Tracking.
  • Support and encourage retreading wherever possible.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum 5 years operations sales experience within the tire sales industry or related field. 
  • A minimum of 5 years supervisory leadership experience.

 Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people both verbally and written.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment to identify and resolve problems, under pressure.
  • Able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines and targets. 
  • Experience of undertaking administrative work in an office environment.
  • Motivated, self-starter who can find solutions. 
  • Ensure best application of allocated and available resources. 
  • Understands safe methods of work procedures and safety performance measures. 
  • Understands tire failure causes and analysis. 
  • Understands the invoicing cycle and importance of deadlines, monthly data analysis, retrieval and tyre management reporting. 
  • Understands the importance of tire maintenance plans being carried out safely to OTR standards for optimum performance and casing generation. 

     Education:

    • High School Diploma and post secondary education plus a diploma in administrative management, operations or related field.
