Data Analyst, Mining Tire Group (MTG)

In this role, you’ll support our Business Insights team in influencing developments that improve sustainability, safety, and productivity at 150+ mine sites across five continents. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting and Analysis

  • Understand, monitor, and escalate data quality issues.
  • Develop and maintain a data catalogue tool (when available) that enables effective measure definition.

Troubleshooting, Application Support and Maintenance

  • Ensure the model refreshes smoothly and data updates into the model daily from source systems. Troubleshoot and resolve issues as needed.
  • Ensure the model includes the available safeguards to prevent customer data being visible to other customers.
  • Provide support to consultants to help them understand Kal Tire table structures and code.
  • Provide technical support including incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and resolution for internal and external clients

Operational Excellence/Continuous Improvement

  • Ownership of the MTG operational data model. Supports model design, relationships and measures work to ensure an acceptable user experience and controlled processing costs.
  • Continue to seek opportunities to evolve the model and code using optimization tools.

Testing and Change Management

  • Ensure all models align with business standards, data governance and architecture.
  • Implement changes, enhancements, and upgrades to models and reports as required.
  • Run testing and quality assurance activities on MTG models and reports.
  • Provide technical support including incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and resolution for internal and external clients

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Data engineering: Strong knowledge of building, deploying, and maintaining relationship model structures. Familiarity with tools such as Azure Data Lake and Synapse is considered an asset.
  • Data analytics: 3-5 years’ experience as a Data Analyst supporting reporting and analytics specifically using BI visualization tools.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong data engineering or ETL skills. The ability to gather, manipulate and transform data for use in reporting and research models.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of CI/CD or version control tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building, deploying, and maintaining multi-relational models.
  • Strong programming knowledge. Practical knowledge of Python/Scala, SQL and DAX is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Azure Data Platform including Data Lake, and PowerBI.
  • Practical knowledge of tools such as Databricks, Synapse, Tabular Editor, and Dax Studio.
  • Experience building visualizations, dashboards, and interactive reports.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously. Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build productive, sustainable, and collaborative working relationships with clients, management, and colleagues.  
  • Command of the English language, both oral and written.

EDUCATION

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional evening and weekend work as required.
