Role Description

Drawing on their industry knowledge and leadership capabilities, the Regional Sales Manager (RSM), develops and executes on regional sales growth targets by effectively leading and managing the Commercial Sales team.  Reporting to the Regional Director (RD), the RSM maintains a strong working knowledge of current market conditions in order to be a trusted advisor to the RD and Store management group for all sales related activities in the region. The position aligns its core responsibilities with the Sales RAPID outline, focusing on strategic sales planning and execution.

 

Responsibilities

Account Development & Planning

  • Plans and forecasts key sales activities to achieve overall sales and gross profit goals.  
  • Directs and advises sales team members with developing their existing account base and growing new business; develops account plans, supports with general account activities, etc.  
  • Collaborates with Corporate Account Managers (CAMs) to identify and/or develop key account sales opportunities.
  • Identifies and anticipates key sales activities for the sales team to grow knowledge and sales for the region; joint sales calls, education sessions for new accounts, product knowledge (OTR, retreading, truck, industrial, etc.), etc.  
  • Collaborates with CAMs to identify and plan regional promotions and trade shows; sources,  

Sales Planning & Performance

  • Under recommendation/direction from the VP, Sales (per the Sales RAPID), collaborates with the Regional Director and sales team to execute on sales strategy for the region.
  • Works with sales team members and store operations to develop targeted customer plans and market strategies in alignment with organization and department objectives.
  • Contributes to overall regional market analysis activities by working with the Sales team, Store Managers and the Regional Director to determine areas of opportunity based on SWOT analysis.  
  • Reviews and reports regional sales performance and activities as required.  
  • Sets Sales team targets with each team member to support regional and strategic account growth.
  • Coordinates and hosts Regional Sales Meetings as required. 

Coaching & Leadership

  • Supports, guides and provides direct supervision to the Sales team; identifies growth and development activities.
  • Conducts education sessions around key sales activities as required.
  • Coaches the sales team in their use of Sales Force management (CRM).
  • Maintains a Regional Sales team member succession plan by forecasting and assessing workforce requirements in collaboration with the Human Resources, Organizational Development team; supports with recruitment activates as required by the role.  
  • Provides leadership to the Sales team by coaching and evaluating / managing performance on an ongoing basis; annual Professional Development Program (PDP).
  • Delivers sales training in the field to individual team members as required and as outlined by the Commercial Sales Training Program.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in B2B sales management.  
  • Proven performance in developing regional or market-based sales strategies.  
  • Proven track record with territory management and customer analysis activities.
  • Demonstrated ability in sales management and coaching.  
  • Experience with business analysis and reporting for various stakeholders.  
  • Ability to execute a successful, consultative selling process.  
  • Proven leadership capabilities; able to effectively manage a team, build lasting relationships with various stakeholders and provide clear direction in the role.  
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; customer service focused approach
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and applicable technology for the role (i.e. Salesforce). 
  • Postgraduate diploma or degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

 

Special Requirements

  • Flexible to travel as required.  
  • Valid provincial driver’s license.
