Recruiter/Junior Human Resources Advisor

Role Description

Kal Tire is looking for a skilled Recruiter / Junior Human Resources Advisor to join their team. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, you will work collaboratively with the Sr. HR Advisor, Operation Managers and Team Members within your respective portfolio that has locations spread across Canada. The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of the full-cycle recruitment process and a solid understanding of Human Resources practices and processes. In addition to recruitment, you will support with employee and labour relations, employee engagement and general coaching on Kal Tire best practices for internal policies and HR related programs.
The primary responsibility of this position is full cycle recruitment and onboarding. As the main driver of this function, you will source and recruit of direct hire openings.

The role has the potential to be remote. Adhoc travel to Vernon office will be required.



  • Collaborate with managers to write job descriptions and send it through approval, post jobs internally and externally with job boards
  • In collaboration with stakeholders create role profiles, interview guide and candidate evaluation processes
  • Source, screen, and vet qualified candidates and present to hiring managers
  • Create offer letters and support the onboarding process
  • Develop a talent pipeline for various sites across Canada
  • Track and manage candidate database
  • Initiate background check and drug/alcohol screening process
  • Reference verifications
  • Interprets the needs of the business and supports proactive strategies around workforce management, planning and analysis
  • In partnership with the business, participates in selection panels to evaluate candidates both internal and external for job postings when required
Advisor responsibilities
  • Provides recommendations/guidance to employees and managers on the interpretation of Kal Tire HR policies, compensation, collective agreements and applicable programs
  • Assist with bargaining, grievances and other labour relations support as needed
  • Interprets and provides guidance/coaching for employee related issues such as: workplace investigations, disciplinary procedures, performance management and attendance management in accordance with established procedures; prepares summaries and recommendations as required
  • Supports with drafting related human resources correspondence: policies, and other employment documentation
  • Supports on engagement initiatives
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date, and complete personnel record
Work Experience
  • 3 years of recruitment experience, sourcing, interviewing, job description development/enhancement, offer letters/negotiation
  • 1-3 years’ progressive experience in human resources roles
  • Experience working with medium to large organizations
  • Unionized experience is considered an asset
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proven ability to work remotely and strong ability to manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Proven experience recruiting for all levels of positions in a retail and or mining environment
  • Demonstrated skill in coaching and advising managers and team members on HR matters
  • Proven ability to think strategically and successfully execute multiple initiatives with accuracy and efficiency
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook),
  • Experience with JobVite is an asset
  • PeopleSoft or related HRIS systems knowledge is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with all levels of individuals in the organization and positively influence teams
  • Knowledge of Provincial Labour Legislation, Employment Law and Human Rights Legislation is considered an asset
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, presentation.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to manage, protect, and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to multitask and change courses quickly without compromising accuracy.
  • Strong administrative and prioritization skills; focused and attentive to detail; highly organized.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual English/French is considered a strong asset
  • Ability to travel to various locations within Canada is an asset
  • CPHR designation is an asset
  • Certificate in Human Resources or related field or relevant combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
