DIRECTOR, SOLUTION DELIVERY

As with any large, growing, successful company, Kal Tire’s need for the right business technology solutions to drive and digitally enable its business is vitally important. The Director, Solution Delivery and their team of technology professionals play a key role in making that happen by leading the delivery of new technology solutions from idea to in-use and delivering business value.

The path to delivering true business value through technology in a large, fast-paced organisation like Kal Tire is a complex one. The Director, Solutions Delivery helps business leaders understand whether an opportunity is a good one to pursue or not, deals with competing business priorities, finds the right people to work on projects, manages risks and challenges as they arise during project delivery and ultimately guides projects to a successful conclusion.

To help ensure the business value delivery process works for Kal Tire, the Director, Solution Delivery is also charged with establishing sound opportunity development, portfolio management, project management and business analysis practices and tools for the organisation.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a diverse team of full-time and contract technology professionals including Business Analysts and Project Managers amongst others
  • Ensure the successful delivery of business value through technology projects
  • Ensure alignment on business priorities amongst business leaders and stakeholders
  • Manage, assess and communicate the Kal Tire technology project portfolio
  • Assist with and facilitate the opportunity discovery and business case development process
  • Ensure appropriate, flexible project resourcing strategies exist for project delivery
  • Coordinate projects and timelines with business transformation programs and initiatives
  • Define and implement suitable solution delivery methods, tools and frameworks
  • Assists the Supervisor and Team Leads in providing quality performance feedback for all team members, and directly provides such feedback to the Supervisor and Team Leads.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 15+ years of experience in a senior technology management role in a large, complex business.
  • 10+ years of experience leading large teams of senior full-time and contract technology professionals.
  • Experience leading and managing technology solution or project delivery teams or project management offices.
  • Experience leading organisations through the evaluation of business opportunities and the development of business cases.
  • Experience with effectively leading, communicating and managing change in a large, distributed organization.
  • Experience with industry portfolio management, project management and business analysis standards, tools and methods.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • The ability to successfully manage large, diverse project portfolios in a complex, fast-paced business environment.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships with technology team stakeholders, senior business leaders and key vendor partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to solve complex problems and manage risks that typically arise during project delivery.

EDUCATION

  • Post-secondary graduate with a degree, diploma or certificate in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Some occasional travel required.
