Lead UX Designer

Graphic & Visual Design (IxD/UX/UI) Blue Ash, Ohio

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Design Solutions (50%)

  • Works from high-level requirements and ask the right questions to gather all relevant information to create and guide design direction
  • Generates inventive, fresh ideas expressed through hand and digital sketching using latest technologies, while providing aesthetic solutions that meet project requirements (i.e. wireframe, visual design, brand language, form factor, etc.)
  • Works collaboratively with other disciplines to optimize design solutions
  • Adjusts and/or incorporates changes in design based on feedback from management, research, and/or client
  • Participates/collaborates in user research with internal and external users to inform and/or validate design decisions
  • Develops representative design solutions that address project requirements and design themes using Illustrator/Sketch/Photoshop/InDesign/XD, etc.
  • Mentors and guides other designers (internal, intern, freelance) on large-scale projects

Design Presentation (20%)

  • Clearly and concisely articulates design approach and rationale behind proposed design solution
  • Represents the interests of good design and user needs internally and with stakeholders
  • Presents design concepts and prototypes to internal and client stakeholders (executives, engineers, project managers, business leaders, researchers, other UX and visual designers, etc.) for review

Design Research (10%)

  • Participates in project research and brainstorming activities
  • Observes and understands user research inputs
  • Participates/collaborates in usability studies to discover design requirements and confirm design concepts
  • Synthesizes research into design solutions

Quality (10%)

  • Manages own deliverables and timing considering the Statement of Work
  • Takes ownership of assigned work from inception to delivery; keeping manager abreast of progress, challenges and opportunities along the way

Continuous Improvement (10%)

  • Remains current on emerging UX/UI and digital behavior trends, design innovations, competitors, and broader technological shifts
  • Continuously monitors/measures UX/UI design processes and iterate to improve them


QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • Knowledge and skills at a level normally acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in Communication Design, Industrial Design, UX, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, or related fields
  • 4+ years of professional experience in creative design/digital design development
  • Strong online portfolio and results in digital work (app, emerging platform, etc.)
  • Experience in medical device design applications is a plus
  • Experience with digital integration into physical products is a plus

  • Skilled practitioner of the complete UX skillset; understanding requirements discovery, concepting, wireframing, testing, iteration, prototyping, applying design systems, and producing deliverables for development
  • Advanced knowledge of latest digital tools
  • Consistent ability to provide fresh, clever and unexpected solutions (thinking outside of the box)
  • Strong aesthetic sensitivity with a discernment of good/bad visual design (print, digital, interactive, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate design intent by a variety of means at a high level of professionalism
  • Demonstrate ability to quickly synthesize inputs and drive towards an appropriate solution
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in order to deliver desired outcomes within the allotted time frame
  • Critical thinker demonstrated by clarity, accuracy, precision, relevance, depth, breadth, significance, logic, and fairness
  • Ability to reach appropriate/actionable solutions
