As a Management Accountant for Garden Trading, you will be responsible for producing high quality, accurate and timely reports and schedules for the appraisal of financial performance, cost control and forecasting at company, channel and department level.

This role is an active and highly involved member of the Finance team and the wider Group Finance function

Day to Day as Management Accountant:

  • Produce accurate and timely monthly Management Accounts for stakeholders across the business and the wider Group, providing supplementary supporting analysis on variance to budgets/forecasts, ensuring they are effectively supported in business decisions
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the key cost drivers, reporting against actual run rates, budget, last year and forecast and presenting results to the budget holder, Finance Manager, Managing Director and Group Finance
  • Investigate and explain major variances to budget, forecast and last year to Group Finance, department heads and Managing Director
  • Support the commercial and operational teams in the creation of robust budgets and forecasts, providing early warning on risks or opportunities to their achievement
  • Support the external audit and year-end reporting cycle
  • Produce lead schedules to support balances with strict deadlines
  • Understand what balance represent and effectively explain schedules
  • Produce and provide supporting backing documentation where appropriate
  • Support the specific channel owners to accurately report and monitor their financial position within the overall budget
  • Prepare various reports showing spend vs forecast in accurate and focused formats
  • Lead as the expert in channel performance to plan

What we are looking for:

  • Fully Qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA or international equivalent
  • Ability to use Excel for accounting to an advanced level
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to adapt communication style when presenting information to financial and non-financial colleagues
  • Experience of implementing new and improved processes and practices within your area of expertise
  • Strong prioritisation skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Experience of working with colleagues at different levels across different functions
  • Retail and/or Wholesale experience would be beneficial
  • Collaborative approach with aim to help, guide and support others to excel
