Step into a role as an Assistant Merchandiser (Level 1) where you will provide support for our Childrenswear department.

As an Assistant Merchandiser (Level 1), you will:

  • Collate historical information prior to strategy planning and range building meeting as required by the merchandiser: best/worst & attribute
  • Have an awareness of the Critical Path and when to begin preparation for each milestone in order to support the Merchandiser
  • Have the necessary historical information to hand to answer questions where necessary
  • Have an understanding and awareness of each selling channel and their differing product requirements
  • Support the Merchandiser and Buyer with ranking the range in accordance with budget and option parameters
  • Understand the impact of not placing buys within the agreed spend budget
  • Can propose and confirm buy quantities with the Merchandiser and demonstrate the thinking behind each buy
  • Works with the Merchandiser to agree size plans, lead times and trigger dates and can load accurately into the range plan
  • Independently negotiates and agrees delivery dates with suppliers with an understanding of the critical path and launch requirements
  • Loads and check store grading with an understanding of buy quantity and replenishment
  • Ensures trigger dates are met to allow on time bookings and secure target delivery
  • Ensures systems are loaded accurately to allow for product creation.
  • Arrange and attends regular team/supplier progress meetings to discuss critical path milestones
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the 'make' process and component parts of a product lead time
  • Take responsibility for ensuring approvals are action on time to support on time in full delivery for launch phases
  • Prepare and present launch reports, taking appropriate actions to improve before presenting to the Merchandiser
  • Negotiate with supplier confidently to manage on time delivery - understands when to highlight issues to the Merchandiser
  • Review the order book weekly demonstrating an understanding of over and under performance - can recommend actions
  • Review key line forecasts weekly with guidance from the Merchandiser - make proposals for rebuys, order adjustments and cancellations
  • Carry out comp shops and visit stores to develop good market awareness
  • The ability to identify best and worst sellers and propose actions to the Merchandiser
  • Have an awareness of product marketing plans and ensure the correct product is being traded, proposing opportunities to increase sales

What we are looking for:

  • Previous experience in a Merchandising role at Trainee Level or as an allocator
  • Self-motivation in completing tasks in a pro-active manner.
  • Ability to work in a timely manner, prioritising task and communication
  • An understanding and clear idea of career path and skills needed to achieve this
  • Enthusiasm for the role
  • Ability to interpret facts and figures to identify the real issues
