FABRIC TECHNOLOGIST (9-12MONTH FTC) – HYBRID WORKING
The role of Fabric Technologist sits in our wonderful Technical & Quality team where you will create and drive the fabric sourcing strategy to deliver better quality fabrics; improving durability, performance & longevity; consolidate key fabric bases to achieve better prices/margin; drive innovation and deliver the sustainability targets are the key responsibilities for this role. This individual must be a strategic thinker, strong interpersonal skills with a passion for sustainability to drive the business forward
Day to day as a Fabric Technologist:
- Collate roll ups and business level review.
- Input into strategic seasonal cross costing projects on core programs globally and input into departmental strategies.
- Be part of the team to review all key lessons learnt from the previous season related to fabric and ESG.
- Support colour & fabric development process from Design through to Supply Chain supporting Design, Buying & Technical Teams.
- The fabric must be risk assessed to ensure commercial viable and performs at the highest standard for the Joules customer.
- Identify and establish key fabric trends for the upcoming season.
- Actively source and manage the fabric supply base and expand the respective network in China & globally in line with the sourcing strategy.
- Focus on margin improvement and fabric consolidation across core ranges. Ensuring minimum parameters are set and monitored.
- Prepares key trend presentations to the buying and design teams.
- Actively manages the fabric sourcing critical path.
- Collating information ahead of weekly CP meetings and highlighting any risk, recommending solutions.
- Supports the Senior Fabric Technologist to deliver new sourcing routes to land sustainability, profit and quality KPIs.
- Monitor the execution of the day to day fabric sourcing requests.
What we need you to have:
- Has over 5 years experience working in the industry either on the retail or supplier side
- Has an understanding of commodity markets and can support buying team with fabric costings
- Understands Joules quality requirements for print execution and fabric standards
- Be part of the team to deliver fabric negotiation and savings on core fabric lines for business
- Understands minimums and surcharges
- Understands print techniques, cost and capabilities
- Understands textile processes – spinning, weaving, dyeing and finishing
- Understands technical fabrics to support our ‘Right as Rain’ product ambitions
- Good fabric negotiating skills
- Good communication skills
- Good level of data collection and analysis for reporting purposes
- Experienced at working cross-functionally with different business areas
- Great level of experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
