PSM MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
Description
Purpose & Scope: Implements continuous improvement initiatives in plant manufacturing operations and oversees the activities of skilled trade workers.
Principle Responsibilities: List and describe (in order of importance) the specific tasks, assignments, level of discretionary authority and/or functions performed.
- Project engineering, oversight, and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems for reliability
- Implementation of sustainability initiatives in plant manufacturing
- Development and oversight of capital construction projects
- Creating and monitoring project budgets and identifying opportunities for cost savings
- Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards
- Design and continuous improvement of close-loop refrigeration systems
- Develop and troubleshoot programmable logic controller (PLC) code
- Read and interpret wiring schematics, electrical drawings, circuits, and computer programs
- Evaluates automation control systems
- Establishes and monitors implementation of preventive maintenance programs and procedures for manufacturing equipment
- Utilizes technical knowledge in installation and continuous improvement that meets organizational standards and ensures minimal equipment downtime
- Oversee mechanics in charge of maintaining and repairing building utility systems such as electrical wiring and controls, heating, and ventilating systems
- Oversee mechanics who maintain, repair, and service plant equipment, buildings, and facilities
- Administers training programs to ensure proper operations, preventive maintenance, and repair equipment programs and procedures
- Additional responsibilities related to continued reliability in plant manufacturing systems, building, grounds, and equipment, as needed
Working Conditions:
- Large amount of walking, stair climbing required
- Noise and temperature levels vary depending on which area of the plant tasks are located
- Employee will typically work 50-55 hours per week M-F with Saturday work, if necessary
- Regular work with heavy and dangerous machinery

Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, civil, biochemical or related field required
Experience
- 1-2 years proven reliability engineering experience in the food industry, industry-specific experience encouraged
- Experience in leadership or supervising a team preferred
Special Skills:
- Ability to read wiring schematics, electrical drawings, circuits, and computer programs
- Ability to read and write more than one language preferred
- Strong computer skills; including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Food safety knowledge
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize well
- Strong communication and people skills
- Attention to detail
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Relationships:
- Internal: Employees on the production line, maintenance employees and plant management
- External: Vendors and contractors
Supervision of Personnel: List titles reporting directly through you and number of employees reporting through each
- Manages: Mechanics, electricians, and other hourly and management support team members
