Job Title: Feed Mill Maintenance Supervisor
Reporting to: Feed Mill Manager 
Department/Location: Hedrick, IA
 
Oversees the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department and organizes, supervises, and directs maintenance workers. Evaluates systems and facility equipment to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed. Assesses building systems to plan work assignments and project schedules. Develops maintenance procedures and schedules..

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Plans, organizes, controls, integrates and evaluates the activities and operations related to the maintenance and repair of the feed mill and office.
  • Provides technical direction to mill personnel.
  • Troubleshoots and provides troubleshooting direction and assistance.
  • Coordinates with millwright & electrical contractors on capital projects and repairs.
  • Verifies equipment specifications and obtains quotes from vendors.
  • Orders parts and manages maintenance logistics.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Identifies opportunities for improving manufacturing processes, identifies resource needs, reviews with Feed Mill Manager and implements improvements.
  • Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the feed mill’s facility’s equipment.
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests and makes adjustments.
  • Detects faulty operations, defective material and reports those and any unusual situations to Feed Mill Manager.
  • Complies with safety regulations and supervises housekeeping of maintenance areas.
  • Performs tasks as assigned by the Feed Mill Manager.
  • Any other duties assigned by the feed mill manager 
Required Qualifications:
  • 2 years’ previous supervisory experience in feed milling, or 5+ years previous supervisory experience in other Manufacturing environment.
  • Must be proficient in areas of:
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Mechanical Repair
  • Welding
  • Electrical
  • Boiler operation
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal or written).
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors and equipment & parts vendors.
  • Must know shop math, be able to interpret drawings and be able to use the tools required.
  • Safety training courses completed (OSHA or company required).
  • Less than 10% travel.
  • Must be local to the area or within reasonable driving distance from the feed mill 
 
Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor Degree in Maintenance Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or related field.
  • 10 years’ previous supervisory experience in feed milling.
  • Feed Mill Management experience.
  • Experience in construction projects.
  • Knowledge of Labor Relations and ability or organize and motivate people.
  • Past performance shows highly developed leadership skills.
  • Proficient in using of MS Office tools.
  • 30 Hour Construction Safety Course (OSHA) JBS is an Equal Opportunity
Working Conditions:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Travel: May travel 1-3 times per year.
