Breeder Manager in Training

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This is a training position with the intent of training a qualified candidate for a full time breeder manager position.  This position will train a qualified candidate to be able to direct and coordinate breeder operations to ensure the delivery of a quality product.  Duties include training in scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of work as a Manager (or equivalent) over Breeder Service Techs. This is a training program designed to train a future breeder manager to be placed in an open position within the company.

Candidates will be trained in the following areas:

• Directing the day-to-day breeder operations to ensure the required quantity and quality of hatch eggs are available for hatcheries.
• Implementing and monitoring all pullet and breeder production programs.
• Providing communication and direction for all contract pullet and breeder producers.
• Monitoring the development of all contract pullet and breeder producers as well as the development of the pullet placements, moves, vaccinations, and sales to ensure proper hatch egg numbers.
• Providing performance and cost numbers to accounting and upper management.
• Monitoring pullet and breeder flock health and adherence to blood testing procedures.
• Monitoring and promoting driver safety with all service people.
• Animal welfare
• Biosecurity
• Disease recognition and control

BASIC SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2 years of breeder related experience is preferred but not required
• Computer skills to include a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
• SAP experience preferred.
• Mtech experience preferred
• Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external partners.
• Must be able to work varying shifts, holidays and weekends as needed.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
