JBS is searching for a Chief Sustainability Officer at our Corporate Office. 


  • Ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of sustainable practices in industrial and agricultural settings as they relate to energy cost management, waste water management, renewable energy, transportation, packaging, and carbon and greenhouse gas emissions, reporting requirements and supply chain engagement
  • A minimum of ten years of environmental/sustainability related experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Animal Science, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics or related fields.  Masters or doctorate degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of agriculture, livestock, poultry and/or food industry
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Project management, collaboration skills
  • Planning, budget and financial management experience a plus



  • Responsible for the production and dissemination of the annual JBS USA Sustainability Report
  • Responsible for the Company’s GRI and other identified global reporting requirements
  • Responsible for the Company’s internal global sustainability data collection platform, user trainings and reporting progress to goals to BU leaders
  • Coordinate with Environmental Department on emissions, energy use, and natural resource consumption, and other environmental priorities to facilitate reporting and progress to goals
  • Coordinate with Food Safety, QA and Live Departments on consumer, animal welfare and other social priorities to facilitate reporting and progress to goals
  • Coordinate sustainability outreach, community activities, team member health and safety, and other social priorities as appropriate
  • Coordinate internal sustainability outreach and communication
  • Participate in conferences, trade association meetings, and other industry events as appropriate
  • Perform forecasting and cost/benefit analysis to enable business unit leaders to make informed decisions to improve current sustainability efforts and maximize financial returns/payback
  • Provide technical expertise in the identification and implementation of potential company-wide sustainability projects and initiatives
  • Identify, review and itemize/aggregate the Company’s current sustainability efforts across all business units.  Evaluate overlapping programs within each unit and identify opportunities to eliminate redundancies and maximize synergies
  • Develop a company-wide comprehensive sustainability plan that focuses on identifying long-range sustainability opportunities that provide economic benefits to the Company and communicating new and existing efforts to the marketplace
  • Serve as the primary Company contact for all sustainability related matters
  • Coordinate and participate in customer specific sustainability projects and presentations across all business units
  • Participate in conferences, trade association meetings, and other industry events as appropriate
  • Manage the production and dissemination of the periodic JBS (USA) Sustainability Report
  • Manage and/or coordinate the Company’s greenhouse gas reporting requirements
  • Assist in the creation of sustainability-related public statements and notices to market with public relations and investor relations units
  • Communicate JBS sustainability policy and potential opportunities in sustainability and environmental compliance to business units
  • Create and continually update a Company-wide emissions inventory as necessary
  • Work with JBS Government Affairs unit to influence governmental policy and regulations
  • Identify, coordinate and manage the Company’s involvement in potential environmental markets such as carbon credits
