Area Safety and Health Director


The Area Safety and Health Director is based out of a designated home complex.  For their home complex, in conjunction with operations management, they will provide support, counsel and direction for:

  • Safety compliance and prevention programs for the processing facility and all satellite facilities;
  • DOT compliance and accident prevention programs for all transportation operations (DOT and non-DOT) with the assistance of a Fleet Safety Specialist;
  • Through an Occupational Health Manager, oversee the Occupational Health function (medical case management, recording, etc.) within the complex;
  • In coordination with Corporate Rick Management and our TPAs provide active workers compensation case management;


In addition to the home complex, the Area Safety & Health Director will be responsible for providing support for three to five additional area complexes.  The Area Director will work closely with the Complex Safety and Health Manager, Complex Manager and Head of Operations for the area complexes.  The designation of the Area Safety & Health Director will be determined by the individual’s skills set.  The accompanying locations will be determined primarily by geographic proximity and secondarily by business unit or other significant drivers, e.g. labor.   Estimated travel will be approximately thirty-five percent (35%).


  • Communicate, coordinate and execute PPC strategies and business unit/facility tactical initiatives for their home complex;
  • Through the Complex Safety and Health Managers in their assigned area, oversee and insure the communication, coordination and execution of PPC strategies and business unit/complex tactical initiatives;
  • Partner with and provide counsel to home and area complexes safety and operations management on complex safety, DOT, risk management and occupational health policies, compliance, and legal issues;
  • In conjunction with line management provide focus to drive ownership and accountability of leading performance indicators, e.g., observations, interventions, ergonomics, site reviews;
  • Oversee the safety talent management within the home and area facilities (skills and people gaps).
  • Seven plus years safety experience in a manufacturing environment


Bachelor's degree in Safety or similar field preferred

3+ years’ experience in safety and health management

Good communication skills both orally and written

Ability to travel as needed

Perform other duties that may be required
