Nature of Position:
 
Successfully carry out and understand all key process measures under in-direct supervision.
 
Essential Functions:

  1. Meeting company expectations for attendance at work and punctuality.

  3. Perform all required duties in a timely manner as outlined in the S.O.P. (Standard Operating Procedures)
  4. Maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers.
  5. Understand and demonstrate company Bio-Security requirements.
  6. Achieve Level III PQA (Pork Quality Assurance Training)
  7. Understand and demonstrate correct animal handling techniques at all times.
  8. Understand and demonstrate safe and efficient power washing techniques.
  9. Understand and demonstrate the need for correct methods of medication handling and storage.
  10. Understand and demonstrate correct methods of euthanasia and dead animal disposal.
  11. Understand and demonstrate correct methods of treating and vaccinating of animals.
  12. Understand and demonstrate general housekeeping and sanitation skills (example: laundry, showers, medication rooms)
  13. Understand and demonstrate under indirect supervision semen collection and handling and boar handling.
  14. Understand and demonstrate principles of feeding boars.
  15. Show initiative to seek other work upon completion of a task.
  16. Competent level of self motivation to complete tasks.
  17. Be willing to participate and take an active role in bio-security and safety committees.
  18. Be willing to participate and take an active role in system improvement teams.
  19. Be willing to participate and take an active role in culling boars.
  20. Be willing to participate and take an active role in maintenance of the facilities and equipment used therein, including welding, plumbing, electrical, ventilation and flush systems.
  21. All other duties as may be assigned.

  6. A high school or equivalent education
  7. 2 years swine experience or a 2-year college degree in swine production and/or management.

  9. Able to take action in solving problems and demonstrate a level of motivation that results in productive time efficiencies.
 
Job Qualifications:
 
  • Be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds, push a minimum of 500 pounds, pull a minimum of 500 pounds, squat to the floor, grip small objects with ease (as small as a grain of feed) and twist at least 45 degrees.
  • Capable of repeated actions.
  • No physical limitations for obtaining a driver’s license.
  • Be responsive to verbal alarms and sounds of animals.
  • Able to communicate in English, verbally and written.
  • Able to walk, stand or squat for long periods of time on different surfaces, including concrete.
  • Physically able to move, load and unload animals up to 550 pounds.
  • Able to climb in and out of crates and over obstacles.
  • Climb ladders and get in and out of vehicles and trailers.
  • Maintain balance on all surfaces, including slippery surfaces.
  • Retain and perform written and verbal instructions.
