Coolers Grading Supervisor – 1st Shift
Description
This position is responsible for managing and directly supervising Cooler and Grading operations. The role ensures production objectives are consistently met while maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment.
Primary Duties
- Supervise, evaluate, and direct personnel in accordance with company policies, operating principles, and safety standards
- Promote maximum safety, efficiency, and productivity among production employees
- Ensure proper training and development of hourly team members
- Identify causes of delays and take corrective action to maintain production schedules
- Apply company employee‑relations policies and union contract guidelines in all interactions
- Confirm machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained and sanitized
- Oversee preparation and maintenance of production records (e.g., payroll, yields)
- Collaborate with other supervisors and management to support teamwork and operational efficiency across departments
- Attend scheduled meetings and provide operational input
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- 1–2 years of experience handling product in the cooler (beef preferred)
- Strong knowledge of product types and specifications
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to motivate and lead hourly employees
Responsibilities
- Ensure product quality and yields meet required specifications
- Supervise all hourly employees assigned to the line
- Maintain a safe work environment and motivate employees
- Verify all products leaving the area meet established standards
- Complete pre‑operational paperwork and confirm sanitation readiness before production begins
- Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet production needs
- Prepare employee paperwork for all hourly team members
- Performance evaluated by the Cooler Superintendent based on productivity and employee management
- Understand and adhere to all union regulations related to hourly employees
- Participate in daily supervisor meetings within Fabrication and Harvest (Kill Floor)
- Conduct monthly cooler meetings for hourly employees
- Provide follow‑up training for all personnel
- Administer disciplinary procedures ranging from verbal warnings to terminations
