Hatchery Quality Assurance Technician

We are looking for a Hatchery Quality Assurance (QA) Technician for Pilgrim’s in Concord, NC. This role is responsible for monitoring and verifying hatchery processes to ensure compliance with company standards, food safety regulations, and animal welfare guidelines. This role focuses on incubation performance, sanitation programs, microbial testing, and quality checks to maintain optimal hatch rates and chick health.
Responsibilities:
- Verify incubation, ventilation, and sanitation programs are operating correctly; Perform calibration of incubation equipment and environmental controls; Conduct fertility and hatch residue breakouts to confirm proper incubation.
- Perform microbial plating and bacterial testing according to schedules; Monitor chick quality, rectal temperatures, and box counts; Verify compliance with GMPs, HACCP, SSOP, and biosecurity protocols.
- Compile and analyze data from incubation trials and QA audits; Maintain accurate records of hatch rates, mortality, and sanitation checks; Report deficiencies and assist in corrective actions.
- Conduct monthly audits of hatchery programs; Ensure adherence to NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state, and federal regulations
- Assist with vaccine mixing and backup duties in processing; Communicate effectively with hatchery management and production teams; Follow all safety policies and wear required PPE.
- Other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in Poultry Science or related field preferred.
- Experience: 1–3 years in hatchery or poultry QA environment preferred
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, effective communication both orally and in writing, capable of independent decision making, must have basic computer knowledge, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Physical requirements: Must be able to stand for extended periods, work in a wet, cold, or hot environment and have the ability to lift 60 - 70 lbs.
