Manager of Retirement Plans

 

 

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are seeking an experienced Manager of Retirement Plans to join a fast-paced HR team in our corporate office. 

 

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for administering and directing day-to-day operations for multiple company sponsored retirement plans including eight (8) defined contribution plans, one (1) defined benefit plan, eight (8) deferred compensation plans, and six (6) multi-employer pension plans.  The successful candidate will engage with multiple retirement partners, vendors, and over 70 local HR teams to provide top tier retirement plan management and customer service to a diverse and growing work force. This position reports directly to the Head of Benefits. This position provides a challenging opportunity to drive exceptional retirement plan administration with a best-in-class corporation.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of all aspects of retirement plan administration. This includes general knowledge of actuarial and financial reporting associated with plan administration. 
  • Oversight of relationship management with plan vendors and third-party administrators.
  • Oversee funding of 401(k), Deferred Compensation Plans, and Union Pension Funds.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of ERISA and ensure retirement plans are compliant.
  • Oversight and participation in the annual audit, ADP/ACP testing, and 5500 filing process.
  • Serve as escalated contact for retirement plan-related customer service issues and administrative errors.
  • Oversight of accurate record management in SAP and vendor systems.
  • Prepare and deliver various reports to leadership and retirement partners. Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of scheduled and ad hoc reporting.
  • Support annual internal budgeting process by providing employer cost estimates based on multiple variables.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives that impact the retirement plan design and administration.
  • Work with retirement partners on communication/education strategies.
  • Organize quarterly Investment Committee meetings.
  • Will lead a team and also be hands-on in day-to-day administration.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 5+ years of related retirement administration experience. 
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal direction.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a team. Ability to foster collaboration and cultivating relationships.
  • The proven ability to complete multiple tasks on time in an intense environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and commitment to task.
  • Ability to identify problems, analyze potential answers, and implement solutions effectively.
  • Proven capability to effectively plan and set priorities.
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Travel is expected with this position 5% of the time.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $80,000 - $100,000;
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and

The posted salary range represents the Company’s good faith estimate of the compensation that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, tenure, internal equity, market data, and may vary accordingly.
