Job Title: Boar Stud Lab Technician
Starting Pay: $20.60/hour
Reporting to: Farm Manager
Department/Location of Position: Cameron, OK
This position is responsible for assisting the farm meet production goals while promoting safety and well-being of self and other team members. Adheres at all times to Animal Welfare and Bio-Security protocols, guidelines, and procedures at all times.
Essential Functions:

- Proficient at semen collection.
- Process boars in the barn as needed.
- Maintains clean, sterile laboratory.
- Ability to order and receive necessary products and supplies to have available to complete tasks.
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
- Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data; selecting corrective steps.
- Take an active role in safety program including following safety procedures, enforcement of policy and continued training.
- Perform all required duties in a timely manner as outlined in the S.O.P (Standard Operating Procedure).
- Ability to help evaluate boars.
- Daily organization to accomplish all tasks within the lab.
- Facilitate timely actions in response to any external or internal production related reports concerning customer expectations.
- Effectively work to make sure both internal and external quality of product is meeting customer expectations.
- Accept ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- All other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Work hours begin between 4:30am - 6:00am depending on business needs
- Available to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Must have reliable transportation
- Be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds up to 100 yards.
- Push and/or pull a minimum of 500 pounds in a cart with wheels when required.
- Squat to floor, grip small objects with ease and twist at least 45 degrees.
- Capable of repeated motions.
- Ability to operate a computer and send reports on a weekly basis.
- Be able to understand, retain and perform oral and written instructions in English.
- Able to communicate orally and in writing with other employees and company contacts.
- Ability to climb in and out of crates and over obstacles.
- Maintain balance on all surfaces.
- Must not own or live near any swine. Must not live with anyone who has contact with swine.
- Farm experience, preferably swine experience
- Local to the Cameron OK and Fort Smith geographical region
- Reliable transportation
- Interpersonal skills for working with other employees.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to heavy swine animal odors and dust
- Pressure washing - water exposure
- Ability to walk, stand and squat for long periods of time on different surfaces including concrete and slats.
- Work in a physically demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

- Familiarity with Bio-Security and Power washing
- Familiarity with swine production
- Previous farm experience

Travel: May travel 1-2 times per year
