Head of Risk Management



Responsible for the competitive (vs market) physical origination of feed (grains and oilseeds) for the US Poultry plants, while managing and mitigating the company’s risk with hedges in the futures and paper markets.  Also responsible for assisting Management and the Business Units with fundamental and technical views on the markets and help guide them in their interactions with customers and suppliers.


Duties and Responsibilities: 

Level of responsibility: Senior, reporting to the CEO

  • Responsible for grains and oilseeds origination (commodities and organic)
  • Identify, Map, Mitigate and Control Risk using futures markets (flat price, spreads and options) as well as the paper markets
  • Develop and execute methodology and refine system for trading futures, options, spreads and paper to generate a profit and also mitigate risks for the company
  • Develop and execute a system that provides a disciplined and consistent format for hedge execution
  • Cost of Ownership: Benchmark cash and futures back to the market, and be more competitive than average
  • Respect [email protected] (Value at Risk), Stops and Exchange Limits
  • Optimize profitability of trading book at all times
  • Consolidated position reports
  • Provide fundamental and technical market color to the team
  • Dynamic Communication with the CEO, CFO and Head of Business Units
  • Updated/Live P&L Reporting
  • Look for alternative and more profitable hedging strategies
  • Participate in the daily/weekly meetings and calls – and help the other traders and BUs
  • Other duties as assigned



  • 4 Year Degree and MBA/Masters preferred
  • 15 Years of Experience in the area
  • Superior skills to identify, retain, manage and develop talent
  • Ability to work well independently and on a team
  • Expertise in Commodities Markets, Agriculture and Macro Economy
  • Advanced knowledge of production agriculture
  • Excellent strategic, math, macro economical and analytical skills
  • Expert understanding of futures and physical markets and trading of futures, spreads and options
  • Superior ability to communicate and present clearly and concisely with individuals of varying levels of knowledge
  • Experience with accounting processes and ability to reconcile information
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and reliable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
