ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

 

1.        Provides Maintenance Systems Management

a.       Accountable to maintain all production machinery specific to process operations.

b.       Work with Maintenance Planning and Purchasing to order new and repair parts.

c.        Oversee repair of all processes related equipment.

d.       Advise Director of Maintenance of replacement of major machinery or parts and areas to improve the equipment in the facility.

e.       Manage maintenance equipment systems to maximize plant capacity and minimize cost.

f.         Manage employee’s utilization and work schedule to minimize overtime and reduce unscheduled downtime.

g.       Accurately conducts Root Cause Analysis of downtime and arrives at solutions to deter further downtime.

2.        Effectively Manages Maintenance Staff and Safety

a.       Maintain building to promote a safe working environment

b.       Manage the maintenance staff through delegation, policy and procedure administration, assignment of work responsibilities, planning, organizing, directing and follow-up of the work assignment while maintaining documentation.

c.        Promote plant safety performance through administration, enforcement of company and plant policy and procedure and training consistent with company objectives and in compliance with Federal and State agencies.

d.       Accountable for providing short and medium term solutions and day-to-day support and communication to all operating teams having issues with troubleshooting, problem analysis, equipment failures, etc.

e.       Maintain compliance with Key Performance Indicators for tracking and reporting the performance of the maintenance function (supplier performance, equipment reliability, overall equipment effectiveness, etc.).

f.         Ensure that PM’s and Work Orders are completed on-time, correctly, audited, and documented for all equipment.

3.       Highly proficient in the installation and maintenance of process and other equipment.

a.       Ability to read an interpret prints and schematics.

b.       Ability to troubleshoots pneumatic, electric, and hydraulic machine problems and teach others.

c.        Ensure repairs to machines involving machine guarding, bolt replacement, and breakdowns due to mechanical wear.

d.       Responsible for ensuring that preventative maintenance tasks are done on time, completely and correctly

e.       Manage installations, including hooking up air, water, gas, and the alignment and leveling of equipment.

f.         Responsible for resolving all maintenance and mechanical problems promptly with minimal disruption to production schedules.

4.       Lead by training, mentoring, scheduling, counseling, and providing guidance to the maintenance team.

a.       Provide leadership through effective communication and coaching.

b.       Provide assistance to employees training using the TPC program, practical techniques and testing, and equipment specific programs.

c.        Provide assistance and support as needed.

d.       Ensure a positive work environment exhibiting the company’s culture of respect for all employees.

e.       Motivate, correct, and challenge personnel with a positive approach.

f.         Notify Director of Maintenance when major problems arise.

g.       Maintains open dialogue with all departments and team.

h.       When approached with feedback and concerns, resolves them in the most direct and positive way possible and communicates that resolution to all involved parties.

i.         Ensures all company policies are followed.

5.       Completes maintenance recordkeeping.

a.       Update maintenance history logs and completes required paperwork.

b.       Accountable for equipment used for maintenance and repairs.

c.        Keep records of all work performed including Root Cause Analysis, PMs, Work Orders, Predictive Maintenance, etc.

6.       Understand, implement, and follow the company GMP policy.

May assume other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·         Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, business, or a related field preferred

·         Ten or more years of related maintenance experience

·         Five or more years of managerial experience

·         Excellent understanding of maintenance strategies and techniques

·      Extensive knowledge of technology including trends, opportunities, and products

·         Must have knowledge and emphasis in mechanical, electrical, PLC, fabrication, hydraulic, pneumatics.

·         Ability to organize, coordinate, and direct projects

·         Strong ability to instruct and lead and prioritize effectively.

·         Ability to make quick and decisive decisions; good judgment and common sense required.

·         Ability to speak, read, and write English

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills

·         Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

·         Presentation skills

·         Strong math skills

·         Computer literacy (Ability to use all related hardware and software)

·         Must maintain a helpful and professional attitude and appearance.

 

 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

ACTIVITIES:

 

 

Very active position, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day, ability to lift 50 lbs.

HEARING:

 

Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

 

REPETITIVE MOTION:

 

Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers.

 

VISUAL ABILITIES:

 

Acute close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:

 

Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds throughout the day.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Must be able to work for long hours in a no-kill food processing environment, where it is wet, damp, and cold.  Temperatures are frequently below freezing, and employees are expected to remain in these conditions for the majority of their work days.
